I need to do a trip report.  It was hashtag amazing.  We flew into Edinburgh and stayed there two days.  Then rented a car and went to Inverness, Isle of Skye, Glencoe, and then back to Edinburgh to fly out.  Wasn't cheap and I'll likely never financially recover from it, but I had a friggin blast.

For the most part The Dancer and I don't keep secrets from each other- it just doesn't make sense and it's best for our relationship. It also helps that there generally aren't any that would cause any problems or really upset the other. However- this I'm going to omit when she asks me how my day was...

We've both been trying to eat and drink a bit better lately, so instead of grabbing a La Croix to have with my lunch I grabbed the cup & metal straw that I keep on the counter for water and filled it up to drink instead. First time I go to take a drink from it, I get something solid along with the liquid. I figure I dropped a bit of my salad into the cup accidentally and spit it out into my hand- and immediately drop on the floor and stomp with extreme prejudice a berking earwig. And then promptly head to the bathroom to rinse my mouth out multiple times and dump the rest of the water out and the sink and fill the cup up with soap.

The Dancer is really grossed out by earwigs, and I can't say I blame her- so she's not getting told about this incident.

This is more than a minor rant to me.

I'm so stupid and I have nobody to blame except myself. The wife and I were out for a ride in the Miata last night with the top down and we were exploring some back roads on the Pennsylvania and Ohio state line. We got to East Palestine by accident and had to make a u turn to avoid a road closure. Nobody was around so I did it I the middle of street. No problem. Went a few more blocks and had to make another u turn. This time I opted to pull into an empty parking lot. Unfortunately I missed a big ditch at the entrance and scraped the front bumper cover, badly. I am sick to my stomach at what I did. berkeley. I'm not wired to just leave this alone so now I have to figure how I want to fix this.

I berkeleying hate earwigs, and they are berkeleying every-berkeleying-where this season.  I pick up a gas can I've let sit in the grass for more than 7 minutes- there's berkeleying earwigs under it.

Living...under a berkeleying gas can.  Forget cockroaches...the earwigs are going to take over the Earth when the humans kill each other off.

Awesome!

I'd love to read about it and get some insider info too to help plan out trip.

Mostly we wanna go to a bunch of distilleries, my wife wants to visit the family castle (which I think is a bit cringey but why not since we are there) and see all the cool sights. Skye is on our list too but I don't know how long we can stay yet.

Alright.  You two pulled my leg.  Let me see if I can free up enough time on Sunday to get something put together.  I regret not doing something similar for my trip two years ago to Costa Rica.  Also equally amazing.

I realized that there are 3 locations for autocross within a few hours of me.

And I am not racing.

I hate youtube shorts- but this goes for all short form media.

I hate how everyone has to have the same vocal cadence to gain traction on the platform. I hate how all the videos end up having the same tone and style. I hate how it's so clunky and ill thought-out it seems like a whole second part to youtube that never fully meshes with the original.

But mostly, I hate that it's caught me a couple of times in a loop. I've been weak to it before and each time I've lost a couple hours listening while I should have bathed or gone to bed, or literally done anything else.

It's been a long time since I changed a clutch slave in a 900.  The rant is that I let it through the door.  The 99s had a different pressure plate that used a chunk of a 15 series V belt to keep the fingers depressed.  The newer ones need a piece of 5/16 brake tube carefully bent and inserted, and it's a glorious pain in the ass.

I thought that in some countries they actually cover them in chocolate and eat them. Good protein. yes

We're supposed to get another 2-3 inches of rain tomorrow. It's been a miserable wet summer and dragging in to a wet miserable fall.  My yard is underwater, and I have frogs living in my basement.  I'm beyond tired of this weather.  Last year's seasonal depression never left to make room for this year's.

Roasted tarantula may have the taste and consistency of peanut butter, too, but I am not keen to find out firsthand.

Heck, I may stop eating peanut butter, just on principle.

(Now that I consider that this means no more of Reese's finest, I realize this is not possible)

Some cultures (ha!) look on cheese with the same level of disgust, I hear.

It was 105 in Dallas last week and we hadn't seen rain all summer. The huskies wouldn't go outside to pee.

Last winter it rained and flooded half my backyard. The huskies found frogs living back there and ate them.

Oh look.. more rain.

The Atlantic City Region actually gets more rain than Seattle, but we tend to get it in large amounts in small periods of time. This is going on almost a week of rain now. Not mist, rain. I left an empty 5 gallon bucket in the backyard last week, it is full.

Maybe more of a Major Rant (tm)...

Yes, the sun is rising. No, the sun has not cleared the horizon yet. I don't care that you can see where you are going without headlights. I do care that I cannot see you because your car is the perfect shade of dark blue to blend in with the (still unlit) road surface. TURN ON YOUR BERKLEYING HEADLIGHTS YOU MOUTH-BREATHING MENSA REJECT!!!!!

berkeleyer's damn lucky that I am a paranoid shiny happy person and I look at least twice before pulling into an intersection. I may have dragged him out of the car and beat him otherwise.

Gotten woken up in the middle of the night by a sledgehammer to my right calf.  Almost literally breathless from pain.

Sat up on the edge of the bed and that heel was 3" off the ground while the other foot was flat on the floor - leg wouldn't go down because my calf was so tight.

I was finally able to get enough weight on the leg that my ankle could flex and the charlie horse mostly let go.  It still aches a bit 8 hours later.

BTDT. Holy hell it hurts and aches for days. At a guess, it's caused by dehydration. I try to make sure I drink at least 8 oz of water before bed. It has helped.

You have my condolences.

Thanks, guys.

It's been a while since that happened to me, but it is definitely not the first time.  I haven't had one that bad in a few years, though.

I guess more water and stretching are in my future.

Excursion knows I'm trying to sell it now. Exhaust pipe broke off the muffler, again, and now it has a delayed braking issue.

I drove it maybe 8 miles this morning and the pedal started drooping. Parked up for lunch. Had the wife get in and pump after lunch and it was fine, no visible leaks, good pressure. Get most of the way home and it went soft again, real soft. Checked and I'm down like an inch of brake fluid.

berkeley this thing.
