So basically I have to buy a new laptop with $$ that I don't have so I can put my lesson plans on the internet. I like my old laptop. It runs well, plays my music, the battery isn't terrible and it has cool SCCA and Pelican Parts stickers on it. I don't want a new one.

I had that same problem with my macbook from 2007 with 10.5.8. But I called Apple and found out I could buy a CD to install a newer operating system and then with that download an even newer OS. I was surprised how recent of operating system I could get with my old macbook. What OS are you running?

I would, but unfortunately several of the areas are where the seats & seat belts mount so are a lot more complex and have things like the weld nuts. If I can't find a suitable donor I can go that route, but the nearby (relatively speaking...) yard has 3-4 G-body Monte Carlos so hopefully one of them will work. Will also let me grab a few small pieces I need- and frankly, I've not been salvage-yard hunting for the better part of the year and could use the morning adventure.

A couple weeks ago I upgraded my laptop to a completely up-to-date Linux distro (Mint 17.2 MATE x64) that will be supported for many years to come. Nothing stopped me. The laptop was cheap too.

My hernia repair surgery went fine, but I did not properly estimate for the recovery. My jaw is sore from the breathing tube and I'm walking like an old man. I'm still glad I had the thing fixed, but this is a whole new type of uncomfortable.

This morning I learned that taking oxycodone while drinking coffee makes me more focused on being mellow.

Stool softeners. Not just a good idea right now, an absolute necessity. Thank me later.

Rant: So earlier I posted about my sister asking me "what car" to haul two kids daily, kid friends occasionally, and tow a 5,000 lb horse trailer sometimes. I suggested older Sequoia or Suburban and keep current daily. She didn't like that answer and just went and traded the RX400 for a shiny new 4Runner. This is the 4th time she's ignored my vehicular advice, I'm out.

Hmm... I might be looking into the things you have said... or I'll be moving on from Mac world.

Mine's an early 2008 with 10.7.5 on it.

Is it Scotch:30 yet? I'm skipping right by Beer:30. It was fun sitting in a meeting today hearing our new misDirector of Business, a Princeton BSME, MSE, and UofM(ichigan) MBA, present ideas I presented several years ago (with proof) that fell on deaf ears, to get head nods today by management. I sent him an email basically telling him it's been tried and ignored many times already. Good luck! I've been too busy to seriously job hunt. The only time I have to do it is on the clock, and I won't do that for ethical reasons, and if I got caught I'd lose the job I need right now.

Traffic today was berkeleying abysmal! Every turn was slow, every road under construction and every driver (except me of course ) seemed to have their head firmly up their keister.

Stopped off at the largest liquor store in the state for some bourbon, and my favorite is sold out. Apparently now it sells out the day it arrives, I've told too many people what a good buy it is and now I can't get any. Grumble

And tired of no AC in the old ranger I stopped off to buy some 134. Got it home to discover that the compressor isn't turning. No AC for me.

Why do computer people find it necessary to make simple things difficult in the name of simplification? My old phone, I want to add a contact, I punch the "contact button", then punch "add contact", then type in a name and number. New phone, it took me almost 10 minutes to figure out how to get past the pictograms and the "import from another device" and "synch" buttons so I could type in a number and a name...

the local supermarket is one I cannot stand. It is usually understaffed and overfull with customers, so you almost have to use the self checkout lanes.

Today, got behind a lady with far too many items for "15 items or less" who seemed to have a ton of coupons... coupons that were limited to two per visit. Needless to say, a stop for kitty litter and juice turned into a half hour wait at the checkout.. and if I had not needed the litter, I would have walked

berkeley berkeley berkeley berkeley. Go to pre-assemble my struts and shocks for the VW tonight in preparation for swapping the suspension on Sunday. I've had the parts for a couple months and Sunday is the only free day for a long time that I will have to do the job. I only have one front bumpstop and one subframe spacer (to stop the shifting and knocking). I check my online order and I only ordered one each. My berkeleying fault. But I am curious as to why no one from the company questioned why I was only getting one each. Tire Rack would have checked the order and seen the odd number. I thought I was ordering pairs. Now I get to scramble and see if the dealer has the parts I need in stock tomorrow.

Grown men, who occupy a desk all day, with no need to spit or drool, somehow need to spit into the urinal they are peeing in three, four, five times during the course of one pee. What the hell!? Do you feel a sudden urge for all of your bodily fluids to join at one place? Maybe you should blow your nose in the urinal too?

So far each day has brought a new form and location of pain. Today it seems that burning is the most popular. I'm also now more sore than I was yesterday. No fever or redness, so I'm just chalking this up to the after effects of the surgeon re-arranging my innards. These pain meds suck, but since they have Tylenol in them I can't take more.

Been working on severely rusted brakes on my minivan for about a week now. Went out to bleed them after work today, and saw a puddle of brake fluid. Jacked up the van, and it turns out I cross threaded a brake line fitting into a block by the rear wheels. Bad enough to damage the fitting, and I bet I did in the other side, too.

I never cross thread stuff, because I'm extremely careful about these things, but it happened this time. Best I can guess, it was dark, and with the weird angle I had to work at, I just didn't notice.

So now, time will be wasted going to the junkyard for a replacement part, but before that, have to figure out what is leaking from where on my rallycross car and fix it, 'cause I'm sure as hell not driving the Abarth into that shrapnel-filled parking lot.

And the damn thing is still probably going to need at least one wheel cylinder. I despise working on drum brakes.

Was probably going to replace it next spring, but it's getting tempting to scrap it now.
