Foo Fighters. How the heck is this the band that inspires me to break down and cry when my life is rough? Seriously "Walk" and "Best of You", and I can't control it.
In the video for Walk I am bothered that he left that Chevette there like that.
Looking at internet for my apartment that I'll be moving into next month. CenturyLink or Comcast are my only two options. CenturyLink maxes out at 25Mbps, Comcast starts at 25Mbps.
25Mbps with Comcast is $30/month. FOR THE FIRST 12 MONTHS...
Then its $70/month or 25Mbps, or their 100Mbps service is only $80/month.
Well, I guess if things go well, I'll be moving on to the next apartment in a year, so it's no that bad. I'll just have to have Comcast. :/
Have to find my own modem too, because there's no way I'm paying for one of theirs or renting one of theirs!
Another rant.
Thrust bearing on the miata is done for. It's been occasionally noisy before, but now it's quite bad. Which means, full clutch/flywheel happy meal from FM, new seals and bearing and everything while I'm in there. ~$860 sent over to FM.
Some days I really miss working at the shop when I could use the lift outside of business hours.

I don't know if my sunscreen wore out or if it's from the wind, but after all day at COTA today, my face is red as a beet except for where my sunglasses were.

My rant is that I'm still awake. Need to be up in 4 hours for autocross in the rain, but nope, can't sleep at all. This is going to be a fun day, luckily it's closer to home than usual.

just got my schedule for next week. starting with today (my Monday) till my next day off.. 9 days straight with 5 of them being at least 10 hours. This is all because one person is going on vacation from our crew...
This is so going to cost me in taxes. I am at the point where even one hour of OT costs me take home pay.. I shudder to think that 20+ hours of overtime are going to do
Uh... What? it sounds like you either need to work on your budget or change your withholding.
I was thinking this might be some wrinkle in his his New Jersey state taxes? Certainly, that is not how the federal marginal tax structure works. http://www.investopedia.com/terms/m/marginaltaxrate.asp (to;dr: when you earn an additional dollar that puts you in a new, higher tax bracket, only that new dollar is taxed at the higher rate, every previous dollar is taxed at the same rate it was before.)

I'm confused by this, too. I am wondering if withholding is based on a multiple of an OT paycheck, so money is being withheld as if that's how much he makes every payday, but I'm still not sure that would reduce the overall income. Even if so, he'd get it back on his income tax return.
In reply to ShadowSix:
The same thing happens to me sometimes and I think it has to do with the way my payroll department does our taxes. It seems like the calculate it as if I made that much every pay period and I would guess that puts me in a different tax bracket that pays a higher percentage. I get back the difference in my refund but it's frustrating to be stuck working in three straight days in a blizzard and not see any extra on payday.

Mr. Montezuma has been having his revenge on me all this week. I thought I was over it yesterday and last night it started all over again. It's hard to get anything done when your on the throne every 20 minutes. Also, I have been doing extra laundry as a result .
Tax witholdings are calculated from a chart, so if you make a boatload of money one pay period, you will be deducted as if that was the rate for every pay period. The extra tax paid should come back at the time of your refund. That doesn't help right now, but I'd be willing to bet your employer could get in real trouble with the feds if he tried to do anything else. A person might be able to balance it off against the following pay period, but I think the only way to do that would be to forego the overtime pay, and get it in a later, quieter pay period.
Canadian speaking, but I bet its similar in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
I wish I could forgo the OT.. but it's often mandatory in my line of work. The show must not only go on, but it has to leave and get to the next place where it must go on... and they are on a strict time schedule.

Do they let you take comp time instead? I started doing that most of the time. The downside is that it's tough to get a day off here so I take off a lot of Wednesdays.

Stop harrassing me to join Motor Trend On Demand if your berkelying website doesn't work properly, meaning that I can't join it because I just get an error message, no matter what computer or browser I use.
Group projects in college. Especially group speech projects.
We have to give a symposium style speech on a topic where two or more people may have problems communicating. I proposed "switching jobs without burning bridges" because it seems like an easy button solution to get enough material to write 30 minutes of speech with the required minimum of 10 references. The group voted on the shiny new topic of "Posttraumatic relationship syndrome" which has a whooping 2 references from professional psychologist that I have found so far, and both are full of psychology terms that are beyond the point of this basic speech class.
Why do people dislike the easy button?

nope, I get 5 weeks of PTO a year (and can roll 2 over)that is it. The good news is anything over 8 hours is OT, the bad news is I can't work a 12 hour day like last night and only 4 on sunday to make up for it

You work at a big casino, so do I. Mine has online W-4 editing, does yours?
If I see a big fat week coming, I go online and change my deductions on my W-4 to 4 or 5 dependents. Then on payday, I change it back to 1 dependent, which is normal for me. That's how you get to keep your overtime pay, instead of waiting until next April to get the refund.
Look into it.
berkeleying bionic leg. Ruined the hike at chimmeny rock today by killing me after the first half mile....
4 Oil changes today and a tow. got three done at a independent and one at the dealer as it is covered. ~31 quarts of oil total, 4 filters. The entire fleet now has fresh oil and filters and is good for another years. Truck was a month ago and the Thunderbird came with fresh oil sticker and bill in the glove-box 500 miles past.
Cadillac broke down 10 feet after getting a oil change. Guys were freaked that they did it. Fuel pump took a crap as it was gummed up with dust or varnish. Had to have it towed home ~2.5 miles took four hours waiting for the trucks as they could not get through there head to send a flatbed. Have not driven it 100 miles in the last year but after the cam issues I wanted to swap the oil. Car is cursed.
Took pump out, ran some cleaning fluid through it, hit it with a rubber mallet, popped it in the car and it started in about 2 seconds. Could have done it in five minutes on the side of the road if I had the tools. At least it was AAA so no fee and the tow truck that was correct had a perfect strap etiquette.

we used to have to through accounting for that.. I am not sure what they are doing now that MGM finally bought out Boyd and is taking over. So many things are in flux it can make your head spin
I am getting sick of being asked to donate every where I shop.
"No, god dam it, I just want to get the gallon of milk".
Was my answer last night. I am now taking note of what stores try to shame you in to donating in front of all the customers and finding alternative places to shop. I am just sick of this trend. It needs to stop.

I hoped it would back off after South Park hammered on it last year, but nope.
It has gotten worse around here. I can no get a coffee with out being asked to donate. WTF is wrong with people.

Welcome to the MGM family! (Ha!) As soon as their systems are in place, you'll be able to edit your W-4 any time you like.
A quick guide to quick radiator replacement on a WJ jeep that has seen salt.
-
Park the truck out back.
-
Buy one that doesn't need a radiator.
A radiator swap shouldn't take 5 hours and AC condenser removal, but it does in this case.
