I need to get the wife's car back together today if I'm going to take my brother and dad out shooting tomorrow. Tuesday night I ordered the tires and wheels on Tire Racks site. They called yesterday morning with questions and said I'd get an email when they were ready to pick up. I took the wife to work and waited to hear from them but never did. I called this morning and they were ready. Drove the wife to work, a little over an hour south of the house then out to tire rack about three hours from the wife's office. Check the wheels before I leave and one is mounted for the wrong side of the car. Now I have to wait for it to be remounted and race back to the wife's office. And it's starting to snow again. I've been off work this week and have not had five minutes of peace yet. Glad we decided not to go away this year.

I think I'm getting to the age where Christmas feels mostly like a bunch of unnecessary hassle. Or maybe it just feels that way because I haven't had a car for almost a week now and there's no guarantee I'll have one soon. Of course I just happened to fall sick on my dedicated Christmas shopping day off. So I'll probably have to go shopping on Christmas eve now. Yaaaay

My rant for the day.

Enzo Fittipaldi named Ferrari young driver

Why do I care? My son and know Enzo pretty well. My son's raced (and beaten him) on multiple occasions. Specifically, the Rotax Nationals in 2010 in the MicroMax class, my son was starting 4th in the prefinal and Enzo tagged him coming out of turn one at the start and spun him off track. He eventually got back on, but from the back of the field. Drove like a madman and got to 13th by the end and then drove through the field to 6th in the final (where Enzo finished 10th).

AND, my son had the second fastest lap of the entire event.....

I need a winning lottery ticket......

-Rob

So I reluctantly agree to a possibly ethical question about a company discount, you balk at the fact I won't deliver it and the store is 30 min away, and you further lament that my discount isn't better? berkeley you, pal. Hope Amazon kisses your ass better. Sincerely, your friend.

I've got a slow leak in one tire, stood outside today with it off the car pouring soapy water on it, nothing. I think my snow tires are cursed, first I junked one in a hidden pothole when it still had mold marks on it, then another picked up a screw and had to be repaired right after that, now this. I've never had any tire problems other than with this set.

This is turning into one of those winters. On the days it is nice, I am working. On my days off it is either very cold or windy and rainy.

It also does not help that my boss has me doing 11 to 7. I can't get anything done outside with those hours.

I understand that I'm pretty severely impaired about online stuff. But I'm done with photobucket and Flickr doesn't seem capable of sharing a hotlink to a pic. All I want to do is simply and easily take a picture from my iPhone and share it with you good people. I see lots of you doing it, what is the secret? It's VERY frustrating!!

I think Google doesn't like me. I looked up how to tie a tie because I don't do it often and I end up doing it wrong the first dozen times otherwise. I put in "how to tie" and Google's first choices were "how to tie off" and "how to tie a noose"

There has been a train parked at the siding next to my house since I woke up yesterday at 7:30. It has been running the whole time (27 hours). At what point do they decide to just shut it off?

Kids, especially young kids, get super excited about Christmas morning and go to sleep late on Christmas Eve and then wake up obscenely early on Christmas morning. It's just what they do. I did it when I was a kid, you did it when you were a kid, it's just a universal kid thing.

I get that you're tired and want to sleep, but if you're just going to shout at the kids to go back to sleep, you might as well try yelling at the sun to duck back below the horizon or the waters of the ocean to reverse. All you're going to get is a sore throat and more frustration. You've got to use your years of experience and knowledge to out-fox the little buggers. Even sleep deprived, it's not that hard. They think that a fat bearded guy somehow vomited 10 cubic feet of toys all over not just our living room, but every living room in the world all in one day. It's not that tough to outsmart them.

So, 24 year-old younger daughter who damn well knows better, let me get this straight; you used my Randall Made chef's knife to cut the pineapples. Without a cutting board. Directly on the granite counter top. Fabulous. You flattened the edge so thoroughly on my $300 hand-forged knife that I had to remove nearly .005" to create a new cutting edge. A couple of years worth of wear in an instant. THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.

of course it waits till a couple of days after winter officially begins. I go into work today and am greeted with the "you need brakes" sign from the ABS and Traction Control lights. The Hill descent light is not on yet, so no "three amigos" on the rover yet.

I knew I was going to need brakes soon. I was hoping to wait till spring when it's warmer. Guess I am putting in an order to TireRack tomorrow for some new discs, pads, and lines. For now, the lights come on everytime I start her up, but go off and stay off if I shut down and restart

My dearest power company. The second monopoly I'm forced to use in this area. Wait a minute, isn't that what anti trust laws are for? Oh nevermind, you got your training from comcrap, just sue everyone and everything into submission and buy a lawmaker a new house once in a while.

Anyway, in your infinite wisdom in this modern technological society, I'm curious as to why you A) feel the need to "estimate" my bill every other month, 2) have to send someone out to read the meter the other months, and C) when my electrical usage doesn't change AT ALL month to month how my bill fluctuates up to $200 difference.

I'm not the only person confused and angered by this, and when asked, you claim it is usage change. Aside from adding the pellet stove October to March, which I would expect my bill to go up from, you have 7 months of wildly fluctuating charges to explain. Maybe you can also explain how adding the pellet stove actually lowers the Damn usage rate while we're at it?

Or is it like I suspect, you and the tv weatherman just throw darts at a board and wherever they land you send out your report? That seems to be the only logical reason as to why my electric bill ranges from $65-278 at a seemingly random schedule.

P.s.: if you're going to insist on sending someone out to read the meter, how about you make sure they show the berkeley up? My house is never empty,I know immediately when someone pulls in my driveway let alone is poking around outside my kitchen window. And I can tell you for a fact when it gets below 50F, no one from the power company comes around at all. So where are you getting your numbers from during the cold months?

Pps: the months you want to "estimate" and I take and send you an actual reading, why don't you use the actual reading? This just looks like a huge berkeleying scam you're trying to run hiding behind municipal laws, knowing there are no alternatives in the area. Well berkeley you, berkeley the lawmakers in your pockets, and berkeley that random number generator you use to invent the bills.

And as a side rant, berkeley the state of PA for adding another 8 cents to the gas tax come the first of the year, putting us 43 cents a gallon above national average.

Some people need a hobby. There's a woman that complains almost every day the her bus is 8-10 minutes late and it makes her late to work. She could come here three minutes earlier and catch the previous bus but that's wrong on principle. She's off this week and has been standing here for over an hour recording the times the buses get here to show her councilmen that we a doing it on purpose because when she's on vacation the buses run fine. She said she was here two hours yesterday. I don't know how she's determining on time as the paper schedule she usually uses is a few years out of date and we are running on a modified schedule for the holidays this week that wasn't printed. All she has managed to prove is that the buses run better when there is no traffic and no customers.

We are standing in front of a housing project so she's also looking at their pile of recycling complaint about the amount of toy packaging and name brand food containers. It seems these little tax burdens had a bit too good a Christmas. I'm a miserable berkeley but she takes unhappiness to a level I could only dream of.

Automotive ADD strikes again I've had the Highlander for under 1.5 years, and am getting sick of the love/hate relationship I have with it. It's coming up on needing some money put into it, and I'm getting very tempted to get rid of it for a sedan or hatchback as soon as (or before) my challenge S10 is roadworthy.

I think I'm just not a CUV/SUV person, cars are more my thing.

eBay buyer of a used laptop filed a return request stating damage and described the laptop arriving with the cd drive out of and sitting on top of the laptop. I am skeptical, the box was too small for a cd drive to come completely out of the laptop and it was packed with cushioning. Dude's had it for 6 days and never contacted via messaging to let me know there was any issue. I didn't take pictures of me boxing it up and I don't have much faith eBay will side with me on this one.

Got the bad alternator out of the Passat. (New to us, teenager car 2.0 a 2000 V6 5 speed to replace the unloved '98 Altima).

"Service Position", what a damn joke. Just call it what it is, "partially disassemble the entire front end of the car and hope everything goes back together in the end". All to get at an alternator wedged into a space approximately 1/2" smaller than the actual berkeleying alternator!!

My wife is a very caring and intelligent person.

However this wonderful intelligence seems to take a back seat when it comes to Pinterest and our baby it seems.

Regular diaper creams not good enough? Lets make some weird concoction made from Hydrocortizone, Athlete's Foot medicine, etc. Except that my wife forgot that she herself is allergic to Hydrocortizone, causing rashes and the like. So needless to say, our lovely 6-month old daughter has what amounts to a baboon's bottom, and painful diarrhea for her first Christmas.

Ever had a sunburn on your chocolate starfish? Yeah, that's what I'm dealing with right now on a 6-month old person who doesn't understand what is happening to her.

On the plus side, she's gotten her first tooth, so there's that.

So note all you folks out there, don't let your friends use Pinterest instead of actual medical advice.
