Too tired to sleep.

3 hours of sleep Friday night, 5 hours of sleep last night, most of the time in between spent in a car or driving one.  Feel like a zombie.  Can't sleep.

This gives me an idea for a new thread...

That's me...every night. Don't worry, chronic fatigue will become the new normal. This is your life now.

Apparently the cold/sinus thing I've fought all weekend has done what it always does this time of year.  Slid down and become my annual bronchitis!   I swear you could set your calendar by this crud.  At least nowadays I recognize it early, will take today off and go to the Dr.

Do you drink a lot of coffee or other caffeinated beverages? I've found that I have to quit drinking coffee after lunch - so like 1pm or so - or I have a lot of trouble sleeping. I fought insomnia all the way through my 20s and into my 30s and finally learned that lesson.

Getting new tires on the truck. Hooked on to the wifi at the tire  shop to kill time. Several of the sites I use are blocked. Luckily GRM is still allowed. Quit screwing around at work and ruining it for the customers.

Don't berkeley with my carts. Taking empty ones pisses me off. If you drop the items I loaded on it on the floor so you can boost the cart because you're too lazy to walk all the way to the other end of the store like the freight team and I do every morning, where gonna have a serious problem. Don't be surprised if  I come by one day and shove the crap off the cart you're using and announce, "Its for a customer." Oh, you're a manager? I don't give a rat's ass. I will take a giant E36 M3 on you.

Wife calls me, there is a bunch of broken glass under the tire of the Tribute after work.

"Did you run over a bottle?" "No! Oh wait it's on the top of the tire too, maybe I did"

No leaks detected yet. But jeez... I'm gonna be pissed if we have to drop $700+ on new tires.

Out of the blue, SWMBO basically cursed me out after we went to bed last night. She's on some pretty hefty antibiotics and lots of OTC painkillers for an infection, so I don't know whether she was/is actually mad at me or if it was caused by the meds and am on edge until I know which it is... indecision

While the exact cause remains unknown, my best guess is that I am driven by the impending Christmas season and the fixing of festive decorations all over the inside and outside of the house.  Whatever the actual source, the result is that I have this massive drive to clean the ever-loving E36 M3 out of the house.  We're talking full on -- what I can only assume to be -- pregnancy-level nesting urges overwhelming me completely.  On top of the need to de-clutter and deep-clean things, I have a need to do home projects.  If LowAceDepot had been open last night at 2330, the dining room would be mostly re-painted by now -- the only thing stopping me is that I've decided it needs to be some shade of red and we don't have any red shades of interior paint.  I managed to distract myself from that last night by staying up until about 0130 cleaning the kitchen with a bamboo skewer and then when I finally climbed in to bed, I lay awake for 30 minutes thinking about all the other places that need to be scrubbed.

The family joke has always been that we kids got Mom's OCD combined with Dad's laziness so that we sit around being irritated about mess and clutter but utterly powerless to actually get off the couch.  I guess Mom finally broke through the dam, but man staying up all night cleaning makes trying to get to work the next day really tough.

Huh, that happens to me about once a month. Damn hormones. I typically go pick up the 80lb fluffball, put said fluffball on top of her in the bed, and go back to sleep on my side of the bed while she is somehow overjoyed to have stinky dog breath in her face and all but forgotten whatever it was that she got mad at me for.

(If anyone can come up with a cure for PMDD, I will personally come and buy that person a six pack of whatever beer they want, every month, for the rest of their lives)

In our case the 75lb fluffball was already curled up between us as he usually is. In last night's case, it was likely a combination of the meds and my being distracted and not as attentive as I should have been. I really hate it when she's sick like this and I really can't do anything but try and comfort her (and I screwed that up solidly last night). I wish people were as easy to fix as cars (not that you'd know they were by looking at mine... -_-;).

There is a cure - it's called a hysterectomy, and it worked like a light switch in DW's case.  That's a helluva pill to swallow, though, depending upon age and future plans.  In our case it worked out great for both of us.

Yeah, not really what we're looking for right now... it is insane though. I'm not perfect. I'm hard to live with, and I'm not the easiest person to like. I recognize how lucky I am, and am FAR from blameless, but our worst fights are probably 90% attributed to it.

To be fair, you didn't specify that the cure had to be one you liked, so I think you owe him some beers.  :)

I absolutely hear you.  I hate to sound like I'm taking a cheap shot or using a convenient excuse, but we would have bitter arguments over fairly minor things about 10-12 times a year.  Since the operation about 5 years ago (which was done for other medical reasons), we've had a handful total.  I've improved my own behaviour and grown as a person, but even I can't claim to have gotten that much better.

Our kids were teens when she got it done, so there was no issue with it.  A win-win situation.

It will get better.  Hang tough and keep your head down.  I've been through it, and I love her more than ever.

Replacing rear disc brakes on a 16 year old rust belt car.  The driver's side went mostly okay, except that the two piece anti-rattle clip system has about a dozen different ways it could be installed, and youtube videos show them being put in in several different ways.  Okay, settled on what looks like the best, and got it together.  That was last night

Tonight, passenger side, I pull the rotor off, and there is a piece of metal wedged between the backing plate and the back side of the hub flange.  Get it pulled out and see it's been there a while, as it looks bent out of shape, and is ground down in multiple places from rubbing against the back of the wheel hub.  Looked up diagrams online, and can't find an equivalent piece in any parking brake assembly diagrams.  I'm guessing it's not supposed to be there at all, but now I'm feeling like I need to pull the driver's side back apart to see if I can find the same piece over there, just in case...

Back in early October I herniated a disk in my lumber spine (L5-S1) and its pressing on my sciatic nerve.  Since then I cannot be on my feet for more than 45 minutes without pain and sitting in a car I am in pain within 5 minutes.

Did 3 weeks of PT with little to no improvement before we had the MRI confirming the hernia. Soonest they can do anything surgically isnt until Mid-December.

Work has been pretty cool about it, allowing me to work from home.  That said, I am getting sick of this.  Its absurd being laid up this long.  My days consist of me laying in bed with a laptop and little more.  I have a shop full of projects I would LOVE to be working on, but I cant really work on them without a lot of pain.  My life is basically on hold. Its really depressing. I mean, I am hanging in and doing ok in the fight against depression and am not having dark thoughts, its just getting to be more of a fight.

Plus, I have always been a very skinny guy.  I am over 6 foot and have never weighed more than 160, usually close to 150.  I have lost weight and am down to 143 and can tell my muscles are atrophying. I am doing arm exercises with some hand weights, but thats about all I can do.  I have always fought to keep enough weight on to keep my ribs from showing.  I know, reverse problem from most people, but its there.

I should have seen this coming.  I had sciatica and was pursuing PT and everything else, then I did a trip that had me driving my Miata for 10 hours over 2 days and thats when it all went straight to hell.  I got home and had to call my wife from the driveway because I couldnt get out of the car on my own.

Days are just running together.  I am getting sick of netflix and prime video and even browsing youtube.   Theres only so much the internet can offer, its no replacement for actually DOING something.

The other day I tried to putz around the shop and chip at the bugeye project for about 45min and wound up hurting badly enough that I couldnt sleep that night.

Been keeping the depths a bit quiet with my friends.  I would kill to be able to meet up with some people for a good thrash day on any car project.  Sucks that it would about kill me at this point.

A little less than a month to go.    One foot in front of the other.  I will get there.

This sucks.

in finally assembling my Expedition Wherry, I put both halves of the lower part of the hull together to drill the holes for the stitching and discovered one was 4 inches shorter than the other. In checking against the plans, I cut the middle piece on the one side too short. This is also the longest and widest piece. Not only do I get the joy of recutting this piece, but I have to break the epoxied scarfs that join the three parts into one piece AND buy another sheet of 4mm okoume plywood (at $40 a sheet!) to replace the part I messed up. Of course this is a holiday week and the mill is closed
