Got a call from one of our hr people on Friday afternoon telling me that I was now owned by the legal entity of the company we just bought a couple month ago. She had no other information. So I called my manager and asked him what was up. He had no idea. So I called his manager and he has no idea what's going on either. Wtf people?
My wife is away until Thursday with the baby. Time for car projects! I picked up a door and trunk lid for my Miata - which is awesome, because yellow panels are exceedingly hard to find and these are in really nice shape (the rest of the car, unfortunately, is not).
The rant? I spent the whole day cleaning the hazardous waste site that is her car, and now I'm sick of working on cars. Also, I don't have anyone around to help me hang the door.
Anybody want to help me hang a door?

The Elantra GT loaner I had did that when I tossed a HAT on the seat. Took me a minute to figure out just what was wrong.

I bought a seatbelt extension for the Fiat that I keep plugged in so that bags on the front seat don’t trigger the warning.

I am currently on a six month contract thru a hiring agency with the company I am at. My boss had wanted to hire permanently but the company is under a hiring freeze so they are only going to be able to do a three month extension for now. I guess it is back to job hunting. I berkeleying hate job hunting.
The wife and I sat down last night to watch the Dakar Rally updates we recorded this week. It's bad enough that they're on NBCSN in half hour blocks that don't start/end on time but then Day 13 was completely replaced by a college basketball game and half of Day 14, the last day, had half the episode replaced by a hockey game. Now we have no idea why Ricky Brebec didn't finish or what happened to Federico Villagra who was 1 second out of the lead on day 12.

Use Red Bull tv and youtube! Brabec had an electrial failure, Villagra had a gearbox problem IIRC.

Based on what's taking up space in the kitchen cabinets and what I spend most of my time with when washing dishes, SWMBO will not eat something unless it's been in a plastic container first.
The more I dig into the ZHP, the more I find how the PO cut corners. Some potentially unsafe corners! Deleted my positive review they had asked me to leave. Not going to leave a negative one as much as I really want to. I don't want to be that guy. I'm not buying anything else from him, and that's that. Part of me really does want to leave a negative review to caution other people, but again not trying to be that guy. I sent him a message and let him know just how much he cut corners, but that I'm not going to start something about it.
It's been a frustrating experience as it seemed to be in good condition to be the reliable daily I needed. I bought it to be the daily I wouldn't have to work on all the time, but now having owned it for a month and a half, I've only driven it a fraction of that time. Probably 80% of my time owning it has been in my garage getting worked on, or waiting for me to work on it. I have so many other things I need to do, but instead I've spent hours and hours and a decent chunk of money on this thing.
Another hour or two and it should be able to move it under it's own power again, but I'll still need to align it and weld the exhaust before it's road worthy.
Just thinking about it puts me in a bad mood, and I'm a pretty cheerful guy, so I don't like that it's had that effect on me.
It definitely doesn't help that I took out a loan on it too. And recovering from Christmas spends has money tighter than I like, so that's also adding to the stress.
I think I'm done ranting now. Might be back later though.
My minor rants are that I didn't know anyone watched Dakar that far behind and now I ruined some of it for somebody so I feel bad, the recipient of my New Year's Game package hasn't posted so I have no idea if everything arrived intact, and the guy who has my rally struts for rebuilding has been unreachable. Wah!

Yup. But to be honest I don't really want to work in the automotive industry.
I am hoping to end up at NASA because well I have always wanted to work at NASA and I now have some contacts and some time to let things develop so fingers crossed that is where I end up.
In other rants, I was coming back from New Orleans on Sunday with my wife and two of our friends. And I drove my friend's new Legacy. It spent it whole time bonging at my and just generally annoying me. I realized again why I don't really like modern cars.

the one and only negative review I have left for somebody or a business was the mechanic that replaced the engine in my Disco. Not only did he take months to do the job, but charged me 40 hours to do it, (book is 15) AND I spend over a thousand on top of that fixing the issues he created in doing the job.
Reading and trying to learn more about spring rates in a use other then drag racing on a foxbody is giving me a headache.
I'm working with a building owner who has a harebrained idea to save a few construction dollars. It is not only going to interfere with the operational efficiency of the building on a daily basis, forever, but it will likely cost more money in the initial construction than it would have to just do it the right way.
And he's very insistent about it.
