Off to the DMV...
Anybody heard from him? Should we send a search party?
I ask because SWMBO "took one for the team" when we picked up my son's Suzuki. Three and a half hours waiting, followed by less than 5 minutes at the counter.
The red "feedback" thing on the right side of my phone screen is incredibly annoying. I wish it was on the top or bottom corner.

I think it's because the weather has shifted so drastically over the last two days, but I feel like a lightly microwaved turd.
I went to use my wood lathe today for the first time in YEARS. Wanted to get started on a wedding present.
It has become a shelf. Just like everything else in my shop thats vaguely horizontal.
So, cleaned it off. Found my tools and oil for the wicks.
Then remembered that the stand needed work. When dad built it, he built it for his turning style. Where my hands are ehen i turn, its 14 inches too high.
So i cleaned off the tools and turning stock from the actual shelf, and pulled the stand out of uts spot. Then noticed that the sleeve in the wall that the sewer main runs through (cinderblock wall, full of concrete. Its a pvc sleeve that is cemented in, with the mai. Line run through the sleeve and sealed with caulking) is leaking muddy water through. berkeleying great!!!
So, a peaceful evening of wood turning (a long overdue return to that hobby) turned into a full blown project, trashed shop, and foundation repair!!
How the berkeley am i gonna fix the wall?????
Went online and reserved a uhaul fir our move on Saturday. I get there and they try to charge me almost double ($151 to $285) because it's their weekend rate....then why the berkeley do you allow me to reserve it at $151 asshats????
berkeley you UHaul!
Went with Penske which gave me unlimited miles and another day for $191. And the truck was damn near new

Yeah, my Uhaul experiences have been like that Seinfeld episode with the rental car. Reserved a 16 or 20 foot truck. Showed up to collect it - not there. They had a clapped out 26 footer they tried to rent me. I said fine, as long as it’s the same price as what I reserved. Nope, almost twice as much. Then you can stuff it, Uhaul! Penske hooked me up. I drove home by the Uhaul place in the Penske truck, laying on the horn and flipping the bird out the window.
In reply to Duke :
I had pretty much the same experience. "I'm here to pick up the truck I reserved." "Yes, I see your reservation, but we're out of the size trucks you rented". In the end, they found a big sucker in the back of the lot that looked it didn't see a lot of action. They gave it to me for the same price, with the caveat "you can drive a stick, right?" Fortunately, yes, otherwise I guess I'm not moving today. (No Penske here) What would have been REALLY great would have been if they had told me it was a non-synchro transmission (or they were totally shot). Instead, I figured that out in the middle of one of the busiest roads in town. Of course, we moved our entire duplex in a single load, so it worked out ok.

I'd have taken the roachy old 26 foot Ford, manual trans and all... IF they had charged me the rate I had reserved for. But they wouldn’t budge. So I said berk you.
Talk about lathes and fixing walls reminds me of my friend in Indy who had a lathe in his garage for a short time. I called this effort the "Indianna Space Program" because he had more successful launches than Space X.
Thankfully he sold his lathe.

It may be because of the 4 beers I accidentally just had, I can’t remember the last time I laughed as when I read that last line.
another miata sold before i could look at it. Im considering going to look at a integra to use and sell the hardtop i bought.

That looks like the night my father decided to watch the Muppets with us.
I never thought I'd buy Amazon Key. The idea of letting some megacorp lock and unlock my front door, and shoot video inside my house was always appalling. Still, I have taken to mail ordering more groceries and household staples, and Amazon wins a decent portion of that business.
The new place has an elevated front door with stairs that decend to a high traffic sidewalk on a high traffic residential street. Further, the small porch had been closed in prior to our move in, but the old entry door hadn't been touched.
If you're following at home, that means leaving packages outside my door puts them immediately in the eye of untold passerby. Unlocking my front door yields... a floor mat, half a bag of de-icer, and another front door.
The install was straightforward. My rant is how, now that it's installed, limited the delivery service is.
I have a Prime order. I can have my order delivered on my doorstep today for a fee. I can have it delivered tomorrow on my doorstep for free. I can have it delivered inside Friday for free. I can get it inside Saturday with no rush shipping (I can't rant that "no rush" is three days) for free. "Amazon Day" shipping appears to also be on my doorstep.
Amazon Prime Now delivers groceries in 2 hours to, you guessed it, my doorstep.
Worst of all, my wife wants to place her own order. Her account is at the same address and she gets Prime benefits shared from my account. I can't find any way of doing this. I can't find a way to set her up to unlock the door in any way other than as a "guest."
So, Amazon Key delivery is for single people who live alone in houses in largish cities, and who are willing to shell out $250 for a door lock upgrade. I'm not sure what I'm doing now.

Ugh.. I need to redo the registration on the Rover, the Fiat, The 14ft sailboat, the trailer it sits on, and my 23ft sailboat all next month. The boats and trailer are cheap.. but the cars are somewhere around $75 each. At least I can get them all done in one shot
I'm out of spare engines.
So sick of people. berkeleying neighbors rooster, that we can hear in all our of bedrooms, is still going strong while the neighbor ignores everything. Supposed to be leaving for a bachelor party tomorrow, no one has been in contact with any details of when or where. Wedding is next weekend, still haven't heard from the bride or the groom about what they actually want at the ceremony.
At 6am I sent a text asking how much for the rooster that keeps waking my kid and myself up, stating that I'm beyond out of patience. Watched him read the text, then head off to work with no reply and that incessant berkeleying crowing still going.
Been trying for a week now to figure out what going on with everything else, being met with silence and "I'll have to ask".
Everybody is about to be cutoff, I'm not a mind reader, people need to communicate.

I need to add 5 walkie talkies to the club's AX fleet to move starter / grid / control off of the cone / courseworker channel.
I put a 2-pack and a 3-pack of little Midland LXT630VP3s in my Amazon cart yesterday. Electronically identical to our existing radios, but with a yellow faceplate instead of black. Perfect. $129.98 all in.
Got approval from the various board members to make the purchase yesterday evening.
Went to order them this morning and they've completely disappeared from Amazon like they never existed. Gone from the cart, gone from Amazon search results - not even marked 'out of stock' or anything; an actual 404 message like I hallucinated the page I left my browser sitting on overnight. No other place except Midland carries them in yellow, and they are notably more expensive than the black ones.
I ended up buying a 6-pack of the black ones for $149.99.
It's not a big deal, but WTF? Seriously, last night of all nights, this happened?

I'm starting to think my car insurance company is working harder for the guy who HIT me, rather than me (their actual paying customer). Thank you Florida for having the most berkeleyed up car insurance laws I've ever seen. No fault my ass...it was pretty berkeleying clear who was at fault.
I finally had to get my insurance broker involved because my claims agent is ignoring me. She used her contacts to get in touch with management at my insurance company. She was promised they would call me this morning by 11:30 or else my broker will lay the smack down on them. This is ridiculous.
(edit)
And no phone call. I am livid. I didn't want a lawyer before, but I do now.
