does it smell like steers or queers?

Confusing Texas with Oklahoma (or the half of it that still exists) is probably more of an insult to Texans than saying they are all steers or queers.

My only experience with this subject comes from none other than Gunnery Sergeant Hartman from Full Metal Jacket:

HARTMAN Where in hell are you from anyway, Private?

COWBOY Sir, Texas, sir!

HARTMAN Holy dogE36 M3! Texas! Only steers and queers come from Texas, Private Cowboy! And you don't look much like a steer to me, so that kinda narrows it down!

I'm not sure it's considered politically correct to cast aspersions on others based upon the state in which they reside.

It's actually the perfect reason to cast aspersions on people.  Sick, lame, or lazy.  Whatever color of the rainbow or orientation someone is, that's all fine.  But we all agree that people from Texas are insufferable.

I'm pretty sure that steers and queers quote came from "An Officer and a Gentleman".

Drill Instructor - where you from son.

Recruit - Texas Sir.

Drill  Instructor - Texes...Texas...only two things come from Texas...steers..........and queers..........and son, you ain't got no horns.

I've made a dozen plus trips to Plano in recent years and I can't not think of that quote while coming into DFW.

Clearly you do not know any people from California or New York if you think Texans are insufferable.

So, what state has the least sucky people...I'm thinking it's a toss up between Alaska and Colorado.

Added later...

As a stat guy, I'd like to compare population density and level of suck.

I bet I'd pull down an R Squared value well north of 90% which would then beg the question...do sucky people like to be packed together or does being packed together make people suck???

Definitely not Colorado.

I'm gonna go with Utah. This is making some sweeing generalizations, and we all know what can happen with that, but over 50% of the state is Mormon, and I've never met a Mormon that wasn't in the running for friendliest person I've ever met.

Come to challenge this year. Maybe I can prove to be the exception. wink

Something we can all agree on, pretty much everyone is annoying. Except people from Rhode Island.  I met both of them and they seem lovely.

Heres one, my wife opens a new bottle of hand sanitizer, and my 4 yo daughter says "where's that from?" My wife responds she doesn't know so my daughter says "I think it's from Texas".

Sure enough, label says manufactured in Texas. But only in tiny print and my daughter had not even seen the bottle up close yet.

We didn't know she knew Texas was a place...

You may want to check this to see if it applies to that sanitizer:

Thanks for this! I had not heard of them before but its good stuff!

I love introducing people to new tunes. I was going to see them on their first US tour, in Chicago...But corona canceled it. Check out both of their albums (and they are about to release a third).

You may also enjoy Alyans - Na Zare. This is another favorite in my household. It's super catchy and my kids are always singing it:
