She gave me a few early Christmas presents!

She gave me LeMans on DVD and Bullitt on DVD!

I can't wait to watch them! I have never watched LeMans.

I just watched it again on Sunday, I try to cycle through the car flicks at least once a year.

Get Grand Prix also.

Good films, I also recommend 2 Lane Blacktop and The Vanishing Point.

I found Bullitt this week at Walmart for $5. It's now mine. I still have never seen LeMans and it has been too long since I've seen Grand Prix. The Art of Racing in the Rain is slated for what 2012 release?

LeMans is a little light on plot, but still an excellent film. Grand Prix is the best film ever made.

Damn, I spent 3 years in SportsRenoo learning the same thing. I could have watched the movie and saved money.

But now it's time for M92 (I thought you had changed to the Supra??, or is this about the name vs. nym thread..) & I to have our quintannual argument on GP vs. LM.

Le Mans has a plot! It's just not about anybody's love affairs. It's about the race!

I really don't love GP any less, though. There were no in-car cameras when I was a kid, and that film blew my mind just because you could actually see what it looked like being out there.

IIRC they used Ford GT-40's as the camera cars....

Point 1: Yeah, I changed my name back because I made at least 80% of my posts under that name, so I'm goin' retro. Plus, that car was owed an homage.

Point 2: "Drive the car...Don't try to stand it on it's bloody ear!"

Point 3: I never said LeMans was plot free, but most moviegoers want to hear something other than 512 ferraris and 917 Porsches screaming down the Mulsanne. Granted, I am NOT most moviegoers.

Point 4: The in car cameras on the banking at Monza are wicked!

When I was a kid (film came out when I was about four, I probably saw it the first time on TV when I was six or seven), I used to see that pipe coming at Sarti's Ferrari in my dreams.

And racing cars are not like sewing machines. They require great attention.

I much preferred GP, because there was significant off-track action as well as the beautiful eye-candy on the race track, and the way GP was made just seemed more realistic, it covered the whole season and showed just how dangerous F1 cars of that era were. LM did that to some extent, but it more showed the aftermath of the crashes rather than showing just how knife-edge the cars were and just how quickly things could go wrong and spread your car, and possibly you, across the next 1/8 mile of track

but yes, your girlfriend IS awesome for getting you those two classics

Your recollection serves you correctly.

Don't know if this hotlink will last, it's from Micheal Keyser's business homepage (and he's trying to sell copies of them, as well as his book).
