I picked up an "inch-pounds" torque wrench (specifically for spark plugs) at the hammer store last weekend. Got it home and realized it's for 1/4" sockets. But my spark plug socket is 3/8" drive. I have adapters to go from 3/8" drive to 1/4" sockets but not the other way around.

So to buy just one more tool to solve this I believe that I need a 6" socket wrench extension that'll fit between my magnetic 3/8" spark plug socket and my 1/4" torque wrench. What's that adaptor called?

thanks

I suppose that is the answer - I was looking for a 6" long adaptor/extension in one piece..

but once I have adapted the drive end from 1/4" (F) to 3/8" (M) I can just use a 6" x 3/8" extension and won't have to worry about a bunch of short adaptors down the spark plug hole

thanks

I'm a little bit surprised that this even exists and I can't really imagine myself choosing to use it, but now that I know that it's out there, I'm sure I'll end up needing exactly this too at some point, so for $7, I just placed my order.

I used it because it's tough to find a 1/2" torque wrench in 0-50 in-lbs, but I can easily find 1/4" versions....

Bingo. I bought the smallest hammer store torque wrench and didn't even look at the drive size. Oops.

I use mine all the time because that adapter and a 1/4" ratchet is superior to a 3/8 stubby ratchet in close quarters.
