I'm finally answering the call of the iPhone, because a BlackBerry is just too boring and corporate, and my office supports iPhones now. Anyone else picking this up on Friday? I'm somewhat irritated that my online Apple order didn't go through and now I simply have a "reservation" which is meaningless, since they're selling on a first-come first-serve basis. And to keep up with AT&T they moved the store opening time up from the already special 8am to 7am, so I need to haul my lazy carcass out of bed before 6 to go get in a freaking line. I hope the one I ordered online for the Wife through AT&T arrives on time Friday.
Yay! Buy one! You'll love it! The only people who don't love iPhones are the people who flush puppies down toilets. You don't flush puppies down toilets do you?

No, but I am a personal injury lawyer, so most would say I'm worse than people who flush puppies down toilets...
He's a blood sucking parasite, all he needed to be a lawyer is a briefcase
And I'm going to have a better one than you, just a year from now, when they come out with an even better one

A personal injury lawyer with a 7 series! Who woulda thunkit?
Man, I'm soooooooooo tempted. Wife and I have first gen iPhones and love them. We resisted the original 3G rollout, but I think the lure of a video camera might be too much to resist.
Or a refurbed Motorola brick. I hear those are totally back in.

I never knew they were "out". You mean the old flip phones from the early 1990s? I would love one of those with a digital conversion (so that it works on current cell networks).
I'm down for one too.
I was just about to upgrade my 1st gen for a 2nd gen when I heard about the 3rd gen.
The phones are really quite durable. Mine went submarining on day 2. With their shape they actually look like a submarine as they glide down in a pond. No damage it worked well.
It's been dropped off a house once, on the tile floor innumerable times, but the best was when it slid off the top of my car onto a busy street right into the pathway of the tires. It stayed there for a half an hour getting run over I don't know how many times. By the time I realized where the phone must be I got back just in time to see a loaded city bus running over it and kicking it up and, thankfully, off the road. All it got was a faint scratch on the bottom of the front glass.

Dayam! I guess I won't bother with a case then! Though the Wife wants a pink skin for hers.

I know.. must not be that good of a lawyer or he'd have a maybach driven by midgets in silken robes.

You . . . can't be serious. Wow! My brother dropped his in a funny way and cracked the screen. In the phone's defense, he dropped it at a weird angle onto a hard floor. I've dropped mine maybe once or twice and it's fine.

I hear these stories all the time, and yet my first gen cracked the screen while it was sitting in my pocket. This in itself wouldn't be so bad, except that they refused to warranty the failing battery and nonfunctional wifi several months later because of the crack. Ultimately I decided I couldn't live without one, and upgraded to the 3G, but you better believe I have this one in a case when it's not in my car mount.
I just upgraded to OS 3.0! Awesome. Even this text box works better. And I love the new capabilities. (finally we can copy and paste! Although I don't know how!)

I like to drive, that's why I chose a 7 vs. a Benz or Lexus; see my thread from a couple weeks ago discussing my fun autocrossing the 7. Besides, I paid only slightly more than a loaded Camry for it. And I believe the correct term is "little people"
Reminds me of my stupid sister in law, who upon being told by a good friend that said friend's child had been diagnosed with dwarfism said "at least she's not a midget!"
i've got mine on preorder for pickup when i get back from work travel on saturday.
I ummm.... have the Google G1.
I'm going to have to skip this generation, as I just got my 3G, and AT&T is kinda ganking upgraders. The better camera and video would be nice, but I'll live. Do like the 3.0 software, though.
LALALALA I can't hear you LALALALA
I am not allowed to think about the iPhone and all of it's goodness...
If anyone decides to sell their used hacked one (I am on Verizon) one do NOT email me at quasimofo( a ) gmail.com.

Find me one that completely works with Verizon and I'll buy 4 today.
From what I'm hearing, the jailbroken phones are more capable than the regular ones on AT&T, mostly due to AT&T being a bunch of jerks.
Find me one that doesn't cost $2K and I'm in. You can build a racecar for that!

$2k? Try $199
($40 Data + $40 Voice) x (24 months) + ($199 buy in) = $2,119.
