After hearing about it on here, and travelling past one of their "yards" on a trip this weekend, I am now addicted to copart.com.
To save my bank account, I do not want to know (at this time) what is involved with getting a car/truck/motorcycle from these "guys".....tho it is killing me that I have found a decent '69 Vette, in that gorgeous light yellow. I also found a banged-up '67 T-Bird 4 door that if I knew a good body shop I would want to buy and fix up. That poor car needs the rear fender from the rear door to the bumper cut off and a new one welded in....

Don't click on link... Don't click on link... Just hit the back button and go to bed....
Thanks. Now I have something else to take all my time away.

There is a Copart yard here in town. I went by one time to check it out. They were not all that friendly, and there is no looking around at what is in the yard without paying for a membership or whatever they call their fee. To make it worse in my state you have to be a licensed car repairer or something or another. In short I cannot bid or buy a car there and can't even get into their facility. I know that the rules vary state to state, but before you get all excited look up the rules for your state.

Crap. I was about to ask about that. Back to Craigslist then.
I hate to be an enabler, but surely if we aren't "licensed car repairers" or whatever ourselves, we know somebody who is. Somebody who, for the small price of a six-pack, would accompany us to the yard and provide to the management any necessary proof of fitness to browse. (We'd be there officially as trainees, or consultants, or The Noob Who Carries Stuff.)
Let's not give up and head back to CL without exploring all options.
For what it's worth, I don't expect to buy everything I see/want on CL. A lot of what is on copart falls into the "wish I had just won the Lotto" category. While there is also a lot of junk....like burned out hulks of cars and trucks.
I figured it required some kind of "membership" just to bid, and was surprised to see a yard near I-95 (forget which southern state at the moment), yet it wasn't really near an exit or advertised with a billboard. In fact, until I looked it up, I didn't know how extensive this business is. I live in Fl. and apparently there are 4 or 5, at least, yards in this state with another 2 or 3 within a few hours drive.

Hmmm, group GRM llc? we all go in and just make a business card template?
