Well I thought I would carry this over from what Marjorie said in the other thread...

As for the rest of you, it's getting old. Election's over. Country's messed up. We've got work to do. Shut up and let's get to it.

She is 100% right the country is messed up. We all know its messed up, lets face it we talk about it being messed up just about as much as we talk about cars around here. So what can we do to start turning things around? How can we as a group, effect a change in the world around us to make it a better place? Surely there has to be something. I'm not saying okay lets handle the failing economy tomorrow and race relations the next and the next we will join hands across the country and sing kumbaya.
I'm saying what small things can we do everyday to make things better? What can we do in our cities and towns to make things better? How can we encourage others to stop being selfish in their lives and the get them to give back to their communities and actually help rebuild them? My god people there are thousands of things that could be done that aren't. How will we start? What are you going to do to make this country and this world a better place to live in?
I am going to pay the entry fee for a noob to come Rally cross with us.
I agree. The country is berkeleyed up and we will all have to work together to make it less berkeleyed up. I am going to do my part to not get berkeleyed up, at least, not quite so often.
Be excellent to each other. Seriously, treat others as you'd like to be treated.

Sweet. You're ON!
Maybe I've seen you around. For a while I was the crazy blonde chick in the middle of the courses video taping, until my camera broke. I have raced a little bit, but when I beat Chuck that one time I knew I needed to back off a little
Are you headed out to the next event Nov 15th? That Volkswagen you gots ought to do just fine out there!
I think the first step is to knock off all the us vs. them nonsense, remember we're all in this together and we all want basically the same things... a good future for our kids, a little money in our wallet, etc.
We need to spend a lot more time focusing on what we all want, instead of the stupid crap used to pit us against one another and manipulate us.

Yeah, I work most Saturdays too, but I have a standing agreement with my guys at work. I get off for Rally X and they get off for their stuff. It works well.
Shoot me a PM next time you can make one and I will hook you up!

I'm putting in unpaid volunteer time at work (I work for the VA at the Kelso VFW helping Veterans). Somebody has to help all these guys coming back from over there.
Even though the income and bank accounts aren't what they used to be I make it a point to do some local shopping every month to keep the economy turning.

We've been trying to do that for some time. Especially buying local produce. It's good to get a local bank, we've got a couple of very local ones that seem to be pretty safe from all of the WS commotion.
On a more personal level, we should remember to save money for ourselves. The borrowing economy may have been booming, but ups and downs are pretty regular.

Yeah, I did the bank switch too. The big national bru-ha-ha netted Chase buying out my beloved WaMu so I bailed (I really, really, really despise Chase). Now I'm with a nice local Credit Union that has all of 3 branches that treat me very well. It's been an excellent experience so far!
I am trying to save for myself as well, it's just really hard to do it at the 'normal' level. Mostly I've had to cut a ton of extraneous spending.
Chase is the damn devil.
I was trying to help a customer out that had issue with her card, my god they were impossible.
Me: "Can I speak with someone in x department"
Chase: "No, but you can fax them"
Me "I already fax'd them, can I call them to confirm they got the fax?"
Chase:"no, they don't have phones you can call them on"
Me:" They have a fax, but no phones?"
Chase:"that is correct sir"
Me: "seriously?"
Chase "yes sir"
Me: "So you can't even call them?
Chase "no sir"
Me: "What if they have a fire?"
Chase: "I'm sorry"
Me: "what if they have a fire, you mean to tell me they have to fax the fire department instead of call them"
Chase: "sir this isn't productive"
Me: " you've got that right"
I sure hope osha finds out that some departments only have a fax for communications...that could be dangerous.
I hate chase.
Wachovia got bought by Wells Fargo. It so happens I bank with both so I see no reason to change. When Chase was going after part of Wachovia I was not real happy because even though I have had a credit card through them for many years I am not overly enamored of their service.

So I should spank them and then powder their bottoms?

Stewie: Brian, spit on me.
Brian spits on Stewie.
Stewie: Ah. That's refreshing. Now tell me I'm scum.
i hate chase simply because of how much they tried to get me to get a credit card with them when i was at OSU.. everywhere you looked chase was trying to get college students to get their credit cards. the over-pursuit of college students spells trouble to me..
