Travel along with the NYFD as they go on a run in April of 1926.
This is a Street Car Dash Cam from somewhere between 1900 and 1905 before the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake

Those Horseless Carriage drivers are shiny happy people.
The fire chief was ringin' the hell out of that bell, wasn't he? Even at that, at least one guy on the sidewalk was not paying attention!
Man, EVERYBODY in San Francisco was driving like an shiny happy person whether hay or petrol powered.
I think Synthetic's clip was shot from a trolley. The amazing thing is someone shot the same thing, down the same street right AFTER the earthquake in 1906. That's a link above to the two side by side.
That's still a reasonable approximation of how cooperative other drivers are around firetrucks today.

That happens, too...
Wow that old fire truck is faster than a modern F1 car! The people may be inattentive but they take off like olympic sprinters to get out of the way.
"forced onto sidewalk by traffic jam" Holy E36M3! Try that today! Looks like that driver was pretty good a getting through some narrow gaps in traffic.

Wow, That's pretty cool. That must have been beyond devastating. Yeah the one I posted was from a cable car.
