Walk into a Wallyworld wearing a blue shirt, carrying a clipboard and the people who work there will try to look busy or just hide from you.
That sounds like fun !
It's fun until its 2002 and you're looking at work boots at Sears on your lunch and you're wearing a shirt and tie and two people ask you shoe related questions and you realize how pathetic your life is.
Back in about 1980 my brother had a friend who had a pretty shady side to him. His truck had a towing setup on the back of it and when he was low on funds he would say that he is "going to work for the city tonight". He would drive around and find abandoned cars and tow them home. He would take off what ever parts he could sell. Not sure what he did with what was left over. Slimey dude.
This was how an ex-friend of mine got his crown vic for $100.

I thought this was going to be stray dogs or hitchhikers !
I opened this thread because this is how we got our last 3 cats.
No contact yet. I did happen to cover over the tow sticker with my sign so maybe that will buy me a little more time.
I’ve been thinking about the comment about the owner and the car not being in the same zip code and I gotta wonder if it was a deal with buy now pay later and someone saying “screw it, let them repo it from the impound”
