Yea, I think only a real uptite metal snob would say Hailstorm isn't metal.

And speaking of metal, here's Meytal:

Probably. Only reason I nominated her is because A: I want to smash her in the baby maker, and B: most women who try to do that kind of death metal vocals suck at it. I didn't even know she was a woman until I saw the video, which is a good thing for that genre I guess.

  1. "smash her in the baby maker" made me LOL
  2. you know her vocal is just put through some ridiculous signal processing to make it come out like that, yes?
  3. i have no idea what she sang, but the video was pretty much queensryche's operation mindcrime

I just watched the video... All I saw before was her saying hi. Words fail me, and I'm slightly embarrassed to say I watched it.

You watched the whole thing? I didn't make it 15 seconds, but that kind of "Slayer on steroids" metal never appealed to me.

Although women and metal are an oxymoron or something (at least as far as vocals go, I wasn't going to pick that out at first but I dig boris and never saw any of the members before) here is the closest I know of

Oh and Hailstorm isn't metal or that other band, they sound like whatever category Britteny spears is in to me.

i started this thread with Doro in mind- she's hot but isn't the hottest, she can sing but isn't the best.. but she just has that "metal" attitude that just gives her music a little more authenticity that you can't really quantify but just know is there. plus she's got staying power and is just as good now as she was 25 years ago. i'd put Lita Ford and Joan Jett in that same area..

Lizzy Hale just annoys me- as do all of her clones (the names of which escape me at the moment)...

That very much depends on your definition of Metal - there is a bunch of European Metalheads (including myself) who will argue that Within Temptation is a (Symphonic) Metal band.

I think WT fits the "metal" category quite well. But there is always someone (around here) who will disagree.

I'd say she's pretty damn metal. I'm not remotely an expert on newschool metal, but I'd say she can hang with the boys pretty well.

As for Jen Ledger--didn't know about her, either. Cute chick drummers=win. Not enough of them.

I should add that it's interesting that this is so far underground here, yet they have 3 million+ hits on the clip for "Faster". She's beautiful and has a damn fine voice. This would have been mainstream in the late 80's.

Sad that there's no mainstream demand for this stuff Stateside. I guess like the indie crowd, the metal crowd is loyal and supportive of its artists, so at least they can still make a living.
