Anyone else ever find it interesting when something outlandish is mentioned in a movie then later on it becomes true?
One particular example of this that I can think of is in "Demolition Man" I think it was where they say that Arnold becomes Governor of Cali (and eventually President). Then I was also finding it amusing in the movie "The Postman" the character Ford changed his name because he wanted to drive cars, the only surviving car lot sign was "Ford Lincoln Mercury". We now have GM and Chrysler going in the hole...hmmm
How many more can you guys think of?
I think the obvious choice is Idiocracy....

You can see how it slowly comes true over time...
Another one I mention is a few episodes of Married with Children where Kelly had her own talk show. It was EXACTLY like the Tyra Banks show.
Point Break was a direct indicator of the Fast and the Furious, except it had some good acting
7 Completely Unrealistic Movie Plots (That Came True)
In this article they mention a show called The Lone Gunmen wherein they predicted 9/11.
IIRC the 'Velociraptor' from the first Jurassic Park was based on an actual dinosaur which was much smaller than the movie showed. The claw the scientist used to scare the kid early in the movie was way bigger than a real Velociraptor claw. Shortly after the movie came out, someone discovered a claw very similar in size to the one shown in the movie. I seem to recall that the rest of the fossil which held the claw wasn't real close to the movie dinosaur, though.

The first Robo Cop with the "I'll buy that for a dollar" line, signifying the end of intelligent humour. and the 6000 SUX, which seems pretty similar to the Escalade, Navigator and Excusion in principle. Privatized security, prisons and law enforcement, extreme violence in Mexico
I kinda think "The Siege" is that way, theres even a quick shot of a poster with the most wanted terrorists with Osama as #1. While it didn't completely come true it is completely believeable now.

I just saw the movie that that was from, and it was freaking WEIRD man!!!
Read 1984, then go hide in a closet at how similar it is...
Network.

The reason I decided to work in TV was to keep it from happening. I failed.
Idiocracy popped into my mind the moment I saw the title of this thread. Before even reading the responses I was ready to post it. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so.
On second thought, I'm terrified of the implications.
1984 came to mind immediately, along with Animal Farm.
There was a sci-fi short story called The Marching Morons. It has a Rip van Winkle type of character waking up in the future.
Oh, and The Time Machine.
That list is pretty cool...and regarding The China Syndrome...living only 4 miles away from TMI, I am very aware of how completely berkeleyed my girlfriend and I am if that plant ever has a serious problem again. Not to mention the entirety of Cumberland and Dauphin counties.
I was going to say there's elements of the movie WALL-E that are already true. Like everyone being overweight and not directly communicating (just through phones and e-mail) and large companies say "red is the new blue!" and everyone just listens and buys red stuff. People laugh in the theater, and don't realize they're already like that!
Wow I had not seen Idiocracy until yesterday after it was mentioned here. Umm that is some scary E36 M3 right there
Forgot about Wall E but yeah very true. And the fact people were laughing at it was even scarier. I might be a fat lump right now (sitting at a desk the last 8 years in a high stress job took its toll) but I'm at least losing weight now and actively getting in shape and continuing my education.
not sure about movies.. but how about how many of Trek's fictional devices have come true?
Yeah, im just wating for "troubles with tribbles" to come true.
Seriously, your right though.
I dunno, but the other day, a CIA agent shot at me, but I was able to dodge all his bullets. But then the next day, after I learned to kungfu and my girlfriend learned to fly a helicopter, that same agent shot me like 7 times and i died, but my girlfriend told me to get up, so I did, and then when the agent and his partners shot at me again, I was able to stop their bulltets with my mind. It was kind of a weird day

Why oh why didn't I take the blue pill?
