A driver's filing a lawsuit after almost becoming ineligible for car insurance due to the data collected through one of these systems connected to LexisNexis (another paywalled NYT article unfortunately):

Having had my own insurance increased by 20% with the insurance company only having one speeding ticket to go on, I might guess it only took 4-5 out-of-line "log events" for his rates to be doubled, depending on whether the increase is compounding...
Four times out of five, I turn off one of the safety nannies in my 2020 Odyssey right after it screams that we're all going to die because it sees oncoming vehicles in our lane but doesn't understand that the road is about to curve. This happens maybe once a week. (The fifth time, I just swear at it, which I freely admit (i) is futile and (ii) makes me look like an idiot.)
If Honda is monitoring this, they presumably think I'm driving like a maniac and spurning help, but so far my insurer either doesn't know or doesn't care.
I've been saying this for years, but my friends thought I was paranoid.
Update: GM's decided to give people one less reason to not buy a GM vehicle by not doing this anymore:
