Reminds me of a story- that kind of ties into the "customer service" thread.

Many moons ago, I was a sales stiff at a store specializing in athletic shoes for children that may or may not require their employees to wear outfits that are representative of a referee. I also worked at a HIGH traffic store, that was due to its proximity to the bus line and other mitigating factors- a high theft store. One day, we caught a woman shoplifting. We busted her flat out IN THE ACT- and of course called security and whatnot. As she was being escorted out of the store, she started calling all of us racist. (This amused me greatly, as you'll find out in a second). Saying that we hated black people, etc etc etc. She finally got to my manager, and started with the same thing to him. I'm nearly rolling at this point, and trying valiantly (but failing) to keep a straight face. He ever so calmly pulls out his wallet, and flips to a picture of his wife and kids. I'll give you a hint, she's not scandanavian. The look on that womans face, was priceless.

Yeah, I've been told that....... Everybody is a color, everybody is different than everybody else, get over it.

I consider myself colorblind. Other than that Dr. Hess and DrBoost pretty much summed-up my thinking.

So what you're saying is that since you've never heard it, it doesn't happen? Or are you saying that all these people are lying? Would like a little clarification on the topic....as I've been called racist for not voting for, and not agreeing with our current moron in office *.

*they're all morons, this one is jus the curent version we have.

I've been called a racist on this very board for not liking Obama's policies.

seriously that was the democratic mantra for the first year or so of the administration.

if nothing else, the obama presidency has completely desensitized people to the playing of the "race card"

No, neither. But I frequent alot of gun boards, and it seems like whenever someone criticizes Obama, they always start off with "I know I will be called a racist, but..."

THere's a reason we preface it that way. It's because we usually DO get called racist.

That's what we've been trying to say. There are tons of moronic people in this world that are just stupid.

Random thought I had-

Call me racist, call me not, I don't really care. But two points I've noticed in my years of retail/insurance/whatever. 1- People tend to enforce their own stereotypes and then cuss and spit when they're called out for it. You don't want to be the part, don't act the part. Hard for someone to call me an ignorant redneck, when I don't act like one. This goes both ways, or all ways, or whateverways. But- if you enforce a stereotype, expect people to make racial generalizations (IE being a black guy with saggy pants that speaks entirely in ebonics. Sorry dude, you aren't getting a job. It's not because anyone is racist, it's because you're acting like a dope. ) and 2- People that call racism so openly are often guilty of it themselves, to a greater extent than they choose to realize. Ignorance is bliss, and even fun sometimes, but it's no excuse to start flinging words around because you don't feel like you were treated the way that the color of your skin dictates. I don't GAF what color you are (Unless you're plaid, because then you're the coolest person I know) if you act like a moron, ima treat you like one. The difference is- if I say something against you, i'm the racist. You say something against me, I got a million minority groups wanting to jam a stick in my ass and twirl me around over an open fire.

I got the same treatment by the same .... person. How idiotic is it to call someone that name just because they have a different political viewpoint.

I have a classic story regarding this issue.

I had been in the US for just a year or so and was in Ft Wayne, Indiana, doing some running around. A group of guys were standing around in the area I was in and were giving me the evil eye, I mean they were really trying to intimidate me, at least.

I was new here so i walked up to them and said, "Can I help you."

They heard my voice, realized I wasn't from an American background and immediately I was accepted as a decent bloke.

Really, my accent was why I was OK. If I had a Kentucky accent where would it have ended?

Did it change who I am?

This is not a story where my or their color matters.

Only if you say you have friends that are black.

Therefore you are a racist...or is that racer? I never can tell.
