He died last night at the age of 85.
He had his hand in many automotive designs over the years. Some great, some breathtaking. It's sad to see him go.

How could you not admire his work? You don't even need to read a bio, just take a quick glance at a gallery of cars that his company is responsible for.
Pininfarina was a design icon. There are very few industrial designers out there who are household names, but Pininfarina was one of them. More than just shaping Ferraris, he set the course for automotive design in general not once, but several times. His designs were always just ahead of their time, and were so copied and imitated that there is not a car company on the planet that can claim to not have any Pininfarina influence.
The 1968 365 Daytona, for example, codified the "long-hood-short-deck" sports/GT car idiom so well that even 40 years later you can still see elements of it in current car design.
Some of my favorite Pininfarina designs:
Maserati-Pininfarina Birdcage 75th concept:
7 years old and still looks futuristic.
Pininfarina Stratos concept:
The only thing I don't like about it is the shape of the headlights. Kind of makes the car look like it's terrified to be driving around at such speeds. Which is kind of funny.
Ferrari P4/5 concept:
