Rule #1 in road rage, he or she who gets out of their vehicle looses, thus anyone on a motorcycle goes into the fight loosing...

I was really hoping to see the guy on the bike drag the person out through the window and start beating them with a road sign. It would have been awesome!!!

I would need a new helmet after making that car look like a prune. The stress would come from resiting to do the same to the driver's head.

Looked like the driver was the sunglassess-wearing woman seen standing next to the beached car.

If I had been the rider I'd have backed-off, too. But that IDGAF-look on her face would have made it REALLY difficult.

Man, that's some scary E36 M3. I had a close one on the hwy a couple weeks ago. I've got to learn just to pull over and take a breath.

I had some dumbass pull out in front of me on a two lane, she was driving a huge late '70's Lincoln 4 door and was coming out of an apartment complex. I was wearing a white shirt, the headlight and driving light (Seca 750) were both on, she made eye contact with me TWICE and still pulled out. Good thing I have dirt bike experience. I chased her to the next raffic light and started yelling at her and punching the glass, she ducked her head and ran the red light. So yeah I sympathize with the guy on the bike.

It's all right with you if I consider that a dickhead maneuver? Because you could have gotten into a world of trouble if things had gone slightly different.

Damn N Sperlo, you are pulling out all the cool 90's video games. lol

But really though, WTF was that chick doing at the VERY start of the video coming up behind the dude? I doubt it was because he was white-lining, thats probably at every stop light in Brazil. I think she was pressing the issue and then turned it into attempted vehicle man slaughter. berkeley that bitch for trying to run over him TWICE!!

Looks like the biker kicked the crap out of the car to start it. Maybe he was pissed she was crossing his line. He just picked the wrong car to kick. Bet he thinks twice before he kicks another one.

That said, trying to run over him was just a little over the top. Crazy people in this world.

While riding my black Suzuki DRZ400 supermoto, in full black Vanson leathers with a black helmet with dark tint visor - in other words looking just like the evil dudes with the AK47s in the movies, a guy in an e38 740i wheels out of a parking space to my right attempting to pull out and do a U turn at the same time. By doing a stoppie I manage to miss his door by about 4', and he misjudges his approach and now has to do a 3-point turn.

And he's on the phone. And it's a very public block in a super high-end retail and restaurant area w/ a zillion pedestrians.

He realizes instantly he's done something stupid, so he does what every general population driver does immediately after trying unsuccessfully to kill a motorcyclist: He becomes incredibly angry, enraged even. He rolls down his window and screams "WHATS YOUR berkeleyING PROBLEM!?" to which I reasonably and quietly respond that he's the one who's:

  • On the phone

  • Not checking his mirrors before doing an illegal U-turn

  • But doing a passable job of trying to kill me

...All of which ratchet his fury up even higher. At this point he's stuck. Cars have pulled up inches from him and someone is trying to wedge into the space he's barely vacated. And I'm still there about on the center line about 4' from his door looking very malevolent. So he's cornered now, and needs to save face - he does the logical thing and decides to kick my ass. So after a preamble of "You want some of this motherberkeleyer???YOU WANT SOME OF THIS???" for the benefit of the stroller brigade who've stopped to observe, he decides to get out - of his slightly ratty e38, in his suit, and attack the evil black leather clad guy.

So I roll forward 3' and hold the front brake. He tries to open his door and can't. He's in full melt down now and has begun to speak in tongues. He's kicking and flailing at the door trying to get it open, and all he's managed to do in put a big dent in his door. And people are honking. They're all honking. No doubt his genitalia has fully retracted into his abdomen by now, and I've had my fun.

I ride around the back of his car - mindful for back-up lights - and ride the 25' to the coffee shop where I park right in front, get off and remove my gear - waiting to see if he's got the stones to get out of the car to confront me in person. Which he didn't.

I'd just say people who rage, regardless if they started it or not, need to learn to chill. If it hasn't already happened to you, you're going to end up in an escalating situation no one can win from and it just isn't worth it.

I had a woman pull a knife on me and try to stick me throw the passenger window because she was going the wrong way down a one way lane in a parking lot and I wouldnt back up all the way down the lane.I rolled the window up and caught her arm close to the shoulder. Still have the knife she dropped.

Yeah, it was a dickhead maneuver. Almost as bad as her pulling out in front of me, causing me to flattrack a Seca 750 through some shrubbery and just barely missing a big old brick sign. I bet she watches out for motorcycles now so I have probably saved a life or two.

I've driven in Brazil, white-lining is a constant and not always accepted by the folks in cars. The bikes get really close in city traffic. It would be interesting to be able to see what led up to this.

I understand lane splitting is legal in California and has been known to lead to confrontations.

Agreed. It's very clear in the first frame of the video something was already going on. There are three vehicles, all poorly placed in relationship to one another. Something had already occurred.

At one point, the camera person walks back around to the other (black) car and takes some shots of what looks like fresh damage to the right front door which would have been on the bike's left. He/she also made sure to get pics of the license tags of everything involved.

I'm going to guess that the rider was splitting lanes, the silver wagon pinched him off causing him to tear up the right front door of the black car, the camera person saw this happen and started shooting vid, the rider kicked the front of the silver car (notice how close it was to the black car and also its odd angle) and we know the rest.
