Pretty sure Disney is going to overdo it and ruin this "Star Wars" thing before episode 9.

With any luck it won't have the problems TFA had.

Totally geeking out about a more adult, "dark" Star Wars movie and thisa story looks awesome!

They've got a long way to go before it's as bad as the prequels were.

I'm looking forward to Rogue One, I think the idea of using the big screen to tell some side stories in the Star Wars universe is a good one.

I think nocones is more referring to quantity issue, not a quality issue. At some point it could just become a bit much, a bit of a money grab (e.g. what super hero movies seem to be moving towards). Kind of like how movies seem to come in trilogies now and how the last movies seems to become two movies. The Hobbit is a shinny example of this horrid trend. There is even a fan edit of The Hobbit out there that cuts the movie down to what was actually in the book!

If they can keep it to one movie a year, I think they might be good.

I find Star Wars entertaining and hope for the best (first one was a good start), but in general I just prefer some good science fiction. The Martian, Interstellar ect. are showing a hopeful trend though. Of course, when the original Star Wars came out, it inspired a LOT of really horrible SciFi. Anyone see The Black Hole? Want to guess what studio made that?

It takes place right before episode 4.. I have a feeling that the last scene of this movie will be the beginning of the first scene of the original Star Wars.. we will see Leia's ship flying along above Tattoine with Darth Vader's Star Destroyer following right behind it..

The current Rebels series on Disney XD is catching up to the time when this movie will take place and Disney is going to lay the foundation for it in that series..

It's the story of how the rebels got the Deathstar plans.

They need to do a Rouge Squadron movie.

Hey, it's Mon Mothma!

This looks like it could be pretty good. I like this pattern... main story movie, side story movie, main story movie... They have a lot of lost time and crap prequel movies to make up for.

I am very happy for this. But I must ask.... is there a source of books that cover the entire SW universe/timeline? I like books, and this is a great topic/subject matter that I'd love to find.

Yes that was my point. I wasn't that impressed with TFA but it was fine. I don't really think making the planed 9 total would be a money grab or overdoing it however all this add on universe stuff if Disney Disney's it is going to get old fast. So far Disney had pushed movies/series for 1-3 with few spin-offs. SW is their first opportunity to try to saturate the market for a solid 5-7 years. With previous movies and animated movies in the 90's it was a different topic being pushed. Some of the Pixar stuff had been multiple movies but they have been separated by years and not continuous. Even Frozen they have put out somewhat slowly just enough to keep interest. I'm just interested to see what happens when Disney goes full Disney for the length of time they will go with SW.

I just saw TFA last week. It was basically A New Hope remake and chock full of "meh". I didn't hate it but I didn't care about it either. I will probably see this one when it hits Amazon prime too but I'm not making a special trip for anymore Star Wars crap until someone makes one that a 12yr old thinks is half as good as the Clone Wars cartoon.

This looks pretty cool to me, but I'm a sucker for Star Wars anything. Even the animated series stuff.

I wonder what's up with this storm trooper, or troopers if there's more than one:

looks like they played with the armor again.. maybe some sort of special forces?
