Alright just made it back, thanks for all the suggestions.
Notes of our trip:
- Thursday - arrived 3PMish, got our rental ($50 a day from Alamo for a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - couldnt beat it. Nice ride with the turbo-4 also)
- Drove to our friends' house, they live in between Kensington and Normal Heights along Adams. Super cool hipster neighborhood
- Had a few beers and headed down to Ocean Beach for food.
- Headed downtown after dinner to a cool old brewery that was in a house.
Friday:
- Drove up to Torrey Pines, stoped in La Jolla for breakfast
- Did some hiking at Torrey Pines
- Went to the beach and walked there
- Headed to Coronado Island, walked there and checked out the houses
- Went to Coronado Brewing
- Went out to the west side beach and checked that all out
- Headed back to the house, got cleaned up and walked over to Kensington for more beers and tacos
Saturday:
- Headed out early, went to Julian for pie and a bit of walking
- Drove out to the Salton Sea, drove all around the Salton Sea, had a beer in Bombay Beach
- Went to Salvation Mountain, checked that out and petted the kitties
- Went to Slab City
- Drove south back down the Salton Sea
- Stopped for dinner in Imperial
- Headed home
Sunday:
- La Jolla to see the sea lions
- Escondido for tacos and beach
- Stone Brewing in Liberty Station for some drinks
- Home for pizza and good conversation
Monday:
- Back to reality.
Great trip, definitely could go back.
