What would you like it to do when you pull into the pits?

I can think of:

  • Check tire pressures
  • Check tire temperatures
  • Check brake temperatures
  • Check tire tread depth / wear evenness / cording & peeling
  • Check for leaks
  • Put down chocks
  • Bring a drink
  • Transfer files from camera / data logger, maybe play them back

Just throw some ideas out, even if you think they may be unfeasible as "change wheels" and "change brakes" are

It would be follow me to the false grid, hold an umbrella over the cockpit, and have a cold bottle of water for me to drink when there's a session delay.

It would turn on the GoPro, then go wait and the beginning of the hot pit to take tire pressures and temps at the end of the race, then bring me a bottle of water while I wait at Impound.

Back in the paddock it would help remove/replace bodywork, buy fuel, and keep track of the schedule.

It would help me with HANS/harness/arm restraints/gloves when I'm strapping in.

I have a thing that does this stuff already, but it's not a robot; it's the awesome Mrs. Motomoron without whom the racing wouldn't happen.

Do all of the above functions plus make lunch on the BBQ and round up cute girls and beer for after the race.

I'd want it to be able to tell me if my engine was experiencing any stresses that may lead to a failure.

At home, I'd want my robot to change the oil and be able to tune the car to maximum efficiency. Even if it just "sniffs" the exhaust and tells me what I need to adjust, that'd be fine.

Suspension, tires, all the rest I'll handle myself.

Sounds like you're looking for a "cyber system"

Good news, you can get one!!!

JK But actually something like that could be done if you were to deck out your engine with a ton of expensive sensors. They use something like that in F1, but of course the pit crew handles it.
