... is bacon.

Bacon. It's the secret of life, or one of many, according to Pearl Cantrell, and she would know, after just celebrating her 105th birthday.
"I love bacon, I eat it everyday", says Pearl, "I don't feel as old as I am, that's all I can say", she explains.
Still feisty and full of life, Pearl has been through a lot, and has plenty of reasons to complain or even give up. After mothering seven children, outliving three of them, losing a husband, and enduring decades of physical labor, she still has a smile on her face.
"I would go to the field and work till dinner, then come home to fix dinner, then I would go back out to the field and work again until supper", Pearl tells us.
But Pearl's daughter, Anno, says complaining is the last thing you'll ever hear her mother do.
"She's taught us to work hard and to get up every morning and think about living. She's never thought about dying", says Anno.
Instead, the centenarian spends her time staying active, enjoying her passions, like sewing and dancing.
"She might go dancing on Saturday night, but she'll be at church Sunday morning", Anno says.
"It was country dancing, waltzing, and two stepping", Pearl tells us.
With countless grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, Pearl's life full of faith and family has inspired those around her, to live for the living, taking one day at a time.
Pearl celebrated her most recent birthday at the schoolhouse she grew up attending near Brownwood. She said it was a 3-day shindig that brought in over 200 people.
Wow. My head is spinning. I'm not sure how to reconcile this information with everything I know (or thought I knew) about nutrition.
"She's taught us to work hard and to get up every morning and think about living. She's never thought about dying", says Anno.
This is probably more important than bacon.
If you're busy eating bacon and working/dancing your ass off, I'm sure it's hard for the reaper to keep up.
Allow me to share an excerpt from the National Review today "Anecdote, the age-old enemy of logic, now reigns supreme and trumps induction — as if the exception is always proof of the rule, as if the public will always forsake reason for emotion." http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/345662/i1984i-29-victor-davis-hanson/page/0/1 Edit: shortened, it just sounded weird with the examples provided in the article.

And with that I finally figured out what Bob Costa's means...which means I'm likely to die any day now.

Mark my words: Bob Costas juice is a berkeleyin miracle drug. Got a cold? Eat some Bob Costas. Got a cut? Rub some Bob Costas juice on that E36 M3.

Heretic!
The secret is happiness, low stress, and a positive outlook on life. Bacon, Bob Costas, and whiskey all contribute greatly to this.

I'm gonna die young
I don't want to unmask the bacon lie but "... and enduring decades of physical labor" and "I would go to the field and work till dinner, then come home to fix dinner, then I would go back out to the field and work again until supper" might have lent a little health and physical fitness to her bacon/jesus regimen.
The bacon lobby. The NRA. Big oil. It's all lies.
Cast iron genes, good social support/friends, an active life and a bit of luck is what the medical literature says. Most advice is promoted by folks selling stuff.

This.
Meats (and fatty meats) aren't bad for you as long as you have moderation. Your body actually needs fats and protiens, even moreso than it needs carbs.
Exercise plays in to health too.

Pork barrel legislation!
And I seem to recall reading somewhere that some of the big pork producers are training pigs to use voting machines.

LIES! LIES! All LIES put forth by the anti-bacon coalition to stop all good Americans from eating God's perfect meat. Everyone knows that there is NOTHING more important than bacon.
