This is getting ridiculous.
A mob of Pennsylvania college students set out to hunt clowns early Tuesday after rumors spread that one was on the loose near campus.
At least 500 students from Pennsylvania State University took to the streets in search for the clown that was supposedly spotted nearby earlier, the Centre Daily Times reports. Footage on social media shows students running together in the streets. Some students wrote on Twitter that the group was “rioting” and chanting, “We are Penn State!”
“Some people run away from clowns, Penn State runs towards them,” one witness tweeted.

Mass hysteria or not, if I go outside of my very rural house and there is a person dressed like a clown in the woods, I'm getting my shotgun and calling the troopers.
There are a whole bunch of guys in camo with orange hats in the woods. They appear to be armed. I think they are luring the deer into their evil web. Can I shoot them? They might be clowns?
In reply to Huckleberry:
Of course you can They are camo clowns, the worst of the lot.
This showed up on the local news in Minneapolis - there was a Facebook post about killer clowns that was apparently causing some hysteria, turns out it was traced to a teenage girl who was trying to play a prank on her boyfriend. So, she's in a little bit of trouble.

For what, exactly?
I watched the news last night and saw that police were combing the woods near a public park for "clowns". I couldn't help but wonder what a guy dressed in funny clothes on public property would be charged with and... since the cops are also wearing costumes of a sort - what are the implications of one costumed group subduing another? Will seltzer effectively repel a tazer? Can they all fit in one car?
More importantly, what is being done about the mime problem? Can they be branded as clowns and rounded up as well?
I'm not sure where to start. Are clowns creepy? Very much so. Does this whole thing scare me? Not at all. When in the history of earth has anyone got a bigger green light to hand out an ass whoopin than right now with clowns. I'm not saying shoot or stab, but if a clown approaches YOU CAN KICK THEIR ASS WITH LITTLE TO NO PROVOKATION NEEDED ON THEIR PART. Its a great time to be alive!
Now people claim these clowns are in the woods looking for people. I doubt that's true. Going out to the woods to find people is like going to Wal-Mart to hunt deer. If they are in the woods, the people they find would most likely be guys like me, a little overweight, big beard, armed, and with a low threshold for this type of bullE36 M3. So head on out to the forest clowns, see what that gets you.

For making threats, I guess. Here's the story: Link

berkeleying internet trends.
Victorian police just issued a warning relating to creepy clowns.
That didn't take long for Aussies to jump on the bandwagon.
Not that clowns at all creep me out, but it's just kind of stupid to be out trying to freak people out just for laughs.
Fyi, Clown phobia also has a legitimate name. Coulrophobia.
14 yo kid locally used a clown identity to text another kid that he was going to shoot up a school. He has been arrested-- class 3 felony.
When I look back there are a number of stupid antics in which I was involved as a kid that today would land me in jail but at the time I just got a stern talking-to by the police. Things have changed...
In reply to Basil Exposition:
You probably didn't threaten to shoot up a school. You didn't because Mom & Dad would have beat your ass. So would mine.

Is that like a stage 3 suspension or turbo kit? Because, that's like... like 3 times more than none!
In reply to stuart in mn:
Hmmm . . . well, been gone for a couple days. Came back to find there have been two local arrests and the cops are starting to complain that its costing them craploads of man-hours to investigate all of these.
I'm disappointed that a clown didn't video photo bomb Jim cantore during a hurricane matthew live shot. That would've topped my old horsehead in bizzard (and tropical storm) weather reporter videobombs

There was no way for me to get there. Roads closed pizza boy, find another way home.
I can't wait to go vote dressed as a clown next month. I encourage others to dress as a clown when voting as well.
