And here I thought it was called a "brown bag lunch" because it comes . . . in a brown bag. Wonder if there's any truth the the meaning Seattle claims? As for "citizen", really? Apparently things are going spectacularly in Seattle if their city counsel has time for this.
Luckily, none of my black-bag operations were every officially documented...someone might have taken offense! But changing the White House to the "House Owned By The American People where we let the President Live" might get tedious.
I guess we'll all have to get Hello Kitty lunch boxes to bring our lunch in now.
Wait we can't use that one cause there's too much black on it.
But is this one too white?

Sales guys do these all the time. Your office gives up their lunch hour and I show up with pizzas and do a training class on hoses. 50% of the people are pissed they had to give up their lunch hour.
I am not sure what this is....
i sense a marketing opportunity here- get the word "citizen" printed on a bunch of brown bags and sell them on street corners...

they did that at a place i used to work once- but it wasn't about hoses... i think it was about teamwork or something... i asked right away if i was getting paid for the lunch break i was giving up for the mandatory meeting. the answer was no... a bunch of us left and no one got in trouble..
I verified this on The Telegraph as well so it's a legit news item.
Seattle bans words 'citizen' and 'brown bag'
That's some serious ridiculousness right there.

I think they are just ignoring all their problems.....
Its too bad we never perfected the neutron bomb, the West coast would be great if it weren't for all the whiners ruining it for everybody.
This is what legalization of recreational weed gets you...
Also, I can shed a bit of light on the brown bag thing. In some african-american circles a brown paper bag was used as a color gauge to determine the difference between "light" and "dark" skin tone. To the best of my knowledge this was a tool that african-americans historically used to "segregate" themselves.
Full disclosure: I am an average white suburbanite, but I live in a muli-ethnic family. Thats how I heard about the brown bag.
How about the rumored origins of the phrase "rule of thumb"?
I'm personally offended by the term "Hooligan" and I may sue...or something... if people continue to use it.

Damn, I was going to say "in before the questioning of Fox News credibility" but I got here a little late.
It seems like someone can get butt hurt over pretty much anything now and our governments will pass a law or policy if you complain loud enough.
Concerning the brown bag deal....
if you went somewhere and bought your lunch, ie a burger, it usually came in a white bag.
If you brought your lunch in a sack from home it was typically a brown sack.
Therefore, when you're "brown bagging it" you're saving money by bringing it from home.
I guess you can look at it racially though if you try hard enough.
In reply to The_Jed:
When will everyone learn, you have no "right to be offended"
You people are all just a bunch of brown bagging citizens.....
