Little too much Junior for my tastes, but I've never met the guy so I can't really pass judgments there.

Sheryl Crow kicks ass IMO. She (at least plays the part) is a badass most of the time.

Imagine going to your kid's 3rd grade parent-teacher conference and Sheryl Crow is the teacher.

Sometimes I have a hard time focusing for just no reason.

Triumph T shirt but riding a KTM? No matter, it's one of the few songs she has done that I really like. I'm willing to forgive a faux pas or two.

Kinda hard for her (and the stunt rider) to wear a helmet in that tribute to the famous Steve McQueen and Bud Ekins 'Great Escape' scene.

Sheryl Crow was Jr.'s dad's fave singer. I reallllly want that driving suit she's wearing at the end

She annoys me greatly for some reason. I can't pinpoint it but I think it is all the girly soak up the sun type songs.

In reply to TRoglodyte:

Well, as a cancer survivor, it's pretty certain she has the med cred.

But even with your quarter, I don't find her music worth a listen.

She has one great album and a bunch of mediocre at best ones. That being said, I'd love to take her to dinner and find out what makes her tick.

I happened on this one a while ago and really liked it. Did a little wiki work, thought I might Amazon it, then figured out it was from about 98. Thought, "Hey, I used to buy discs back then." Went downstairs, and found I already had the album. Live version is better.

OK, I'll admit I was a Benatar fan - she had an incredible voice even if the music was typical of the era.

I heard some blues ballads she performed while surfing somewhere (PBS/TV/Webs - can't remember) and she was incredible.

If anyone here has a clue or a link, it would be greatly appreciated. And, NO, the 80's hair-band stuff is not what I'm looking for.

She did an album called "True Love" that was all blues-based. That's probably what you heard. (not a fan, I just remember the project making the rounds BITD)

Neko Case's stuff in the New Pornographers is really good (although I'm not up on their more recent stuff)

Pat Benatar has an autobiography out this year, if any of you still actually read books. I recently checked it out of the local public library. It was an easy read, pretty entertaining. I was very much a Benatar fan back in the day. I still like her music, just don't hear it much. I've always been a sucker for hot chicks singing rock n' roll.

I saw her twice way back when, she was an absolute bundle of energy. I got tired just watching her.

I'm throwing my vote in for Liz Phair. Only concert that I ever went too that I paid a scalper for tickets. She was awesome before she went in a pop/top 40 direction.
