Plastic frames are better than metal ones now. I got my wife one for Christmas that was made of metal. Threw it away after a year because it was rusting so bad and staining the paint.

I googled this one. Found the website, "Patina Research". I love their IG page and didn't realize they had merch! Ordered some stuff
It's good stuff
BTW, I've been browsing old metal dealer frames on Ebay to put on my 1960s car. Holy crap, $80 for something we used to throw away?
I also have a Brumos plate frame for the 911–back when Brumos Porsche was a thing. I think now they’re worth some money. Back then, they were like $20 in the parts department.
I was at Brumos for a club meeting. I walked into the bathroom and found a wad of 20s on the floor. So I turned it in at the front desk.
When I walked into the parts department to get the plate frame, the dude behind the counter goes, “No charge.”
Perhaps karma is real.
So, my grandfather started a "wall of frame" several years ago that has now grown into 298 (!) unique examples, organized by make for the most part. I was over there the other night visiting and took a few wide angle pics. He's looking to get to 300.
He gets excited when I drop off new (to him) license plate frames that my dad scavenges from used cars at the dealership.
Say, here's a request for you people in southern Florida...back in the late 1950s/early 1960s Smokey Yunick was racing Pontiacs in Nascar, and his team was sponsored by Stephens Pontiac in Daytona Beach. He won the Daytona 500 in 1961 with Marvin Panch driving, and in 1962 with Fireball Roberts. I met Marvin at the Pontiac national convention in 2001 when he was walking around the show and he stopped to admire my '61 Bonneville.
Anyway, since my last name is also Stephens I'd love to find a license plate frame from that dealer, it would look perfect on my car. If you ever happen across a license plate frame (or any other dealer memorabilia) at a swap meet or antique store or whatever, let me know.
This is a picture of Fireball standing next to the Pontiac he won Daytona with in 1962.
I bought this one a couple years ago at IMSA.com that's made out of metal. When clean (which it is currently not) it's a pewter color. I like the checkered flag motif in the bottom corners.
I do wonder if I'll get pulled over sometime because "Texas" is partially covered.
