Same sweater though!

If you had any idea what it took to restore that car, you would know why the gray hair.None of the sheet metal from the cowl forward was in the second picture.

Probably the only thing with an engine that I've owned for more than 8 years. In crates scattered across two states, naturally.

Sasha, my 75 Stingray. Had it since June of '01.
However, I have a steering wheel that's been on almost every Mk1VW I've ever owned from Rabbit to Scirocco. Bought it at a hot rod swap meet in 94 or 95. If it's in a car that car gets track time or autocrossed in some capacity. Never getting rid of it.

I change cars like I change underwear. And yes, by the time I'm done with them, they are dirty and have holes.
That being said, I had a mini for close to 10 years I think. That's 3 times longer than anything else I think I've had.

I've had this one since late 1994, my first car when I was 15. Mostly restored and rebuilt over the years. It sat for about 10 years during my late 20s and early 30s when I didn't have a place to keep it. I got it back and running a few years ago and find that I barely drive it anymore. I think it is time to move it along, just need to fix a few things and then it is going up for sale this spring.

Bought my '71 MGB in the summer of 1987 and still have it today. I've usually owned cars till they ground to a well-worn halt, and usually past the point where they should have been retired, so long-term ownership is nothing new to me.

Bought my 89 Civic Si in 1998 and still have it so 17 years, but the longest vehicle relationship would be my 1985 GT Performer Freestyle bike. Bought it new when I was a teen youngling and still have it 30 years later.

Longest for me is my 66 Mustang, about 35 years now. Pic from early 80's when I daily drove it.

My 1987 econoline. Parents bought it new in 1986 (2 years before my birth) I first drove it at 16 when I got a license, before during and after my jetta, drove it to prom (i know what youre thinking and no, no fun was had in the van. I lacked "game" in high school, despite having a girlfriend), drove it from then to now. Well, technically I havent driven it since saturday.

This would be a good game for my parents, they keep cars forever. My van was only one of the cars they bought new long ago that they never sold, though if they hadn't given it to me it would hold the record right now, but just barely over my moms supra.

1987 Toyota 4x4

Owned her for about 5 years. To date it's the longest car relationship I've had.

Used, abused, battered, and bruised. 100,000miles (some on pavement!) in my hands and she took it all in stride. Just thinking back kind of gets me all misty eyed.

In that second picture I was probably the only vehicle out there without a lift, and I never missed a thing

You know? I bet if I drove up to Mount Vernon I could find her. Maybe even buy her back...

Pretty much the same story here. Having a hard time letting go and it would be very hard watching it go away without me driving.

My '78 MGB was my only means of transportation for 9 of the 11 years I owned it. I bough it in 1981 while I was in high school and drove it through college. When my future wife went off to grad school in DC and I went to TN to finish college, I'd drive it 13 hours to see her every month. When I took a job flying out of Eastern NC, I'd do the 4.5 hour drive to DC every other weekend. I had pulled the Zenith carb off and replaced it with twin SUs, so when we moved to Raleigh, I had to sell it because it wouldn't pass emissions. I ended up putting 186,000 miles on it, with an engine rebuild at 93,000. It only stranded me once, when the diff seal went out on 95 in VA and the diff welded itself. I lucked out when the tow truck dropped it off at a shop in Woodbridge, VA run by a guy who raced MGAs.

Owned my duster since 1994. My daughter will get it when I die.

My wife and I met in high school, dated a little in college, and got married in 2006. We just celebrate our 8 year anniversary yesterday.

My daughter is 6.

After that my relationship can be measured in days to a max of 3 years.

Sad to say, but this is my longest vehicular commitment. Had it since new in Jan 2007, so a little over 8 years. And yes, it's for sale as I write this and hope to have it sold by the weekend.

How was it not legal in the US? Canadian car?

I had to import my 90 into Canada, that was fun. NOT.
