Was worried about cutting/slicing/poking related pains. Was not prepared for the feeling of being kicked in the groin. Repeatedly. Walked out and drove home though , so not as bad as people make it out to be. My only advice, do it when you are 20!

(just kidding, I love my kids)

I have heard this is not fun. For the heck of it: WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU WILLINGLY DO THAT TO YOURSELF!?!? Is it supposed to help with avoiding health issues down the road?

If by health issue you mean wallet drain by future progeny.

Think of it as permanent pretty durn effective birth control.

Did they use the clamp method? That one's not too bad. I had a nice cocktail of percocet and valium while the doc did his thing. Make sure you stay off your feet for a few days as much as possible and try not to drive a manual. Ask me how I know.... Oh and FROZEN PEAS ARE YOUR FRIEND!

All I can imagine when the doctor gets ready to do this is him saying "Want me to clamp 'im boss?"

BTDT, you'll be fine. And +1 to the frozen veggies. And was I the only guy who came home from this procedure to a wife crying that she can't have anymore kids and wanting to adopt one right away, when she was the one that sent me in the first place?! I'll never understand women.

Whoa, what!? My doc said permanent once I went back after 30 days to give a sample to confirm no swimmers. He didn't say anything about annual checkups!

Look it up....the tubes can regrow. :(

I have a clamp on the half of the tube that runs to the ureter - that should prevent any problems, right?

Mine didn't regrow, but it never was fully effective. The second snip hurts a lot more than the first.

They can regrow and apparantly it happens much more often then the basstards let you believe! Hence my second and now three year old... I did the follow up checks and yet inside of five months later, swombo was baking! Was rechecked and they said "sorry, we will do the next snip for free if you want". I truly was never so berkelying fired up evar!!! At least he's healthy and like Per's Stig, likes to hang in the garage with me and roll around kart tires

Now the wife has been plugged, and so far so good on only needing a four seater.

I did. Well, not exactly, but I did walk nearly 2 miles.

You guys are wimps. The snipping is a simple outpatient procedure for a couple hundred bucks done in a doctor's office.

The REVERSAL is the one that REALLY hurts AND costs like $30K and is done under in-patient in a hospital.

Anybody considering this should ask the doc if one end of the vas can be placed OUTSIDE the pampiniform plexus. That way, even if the clips came off and the tube tries to regrow, the ends won't be near each other anymore (one in the plexus, one out.)

You're welcome.

How about a huge resurgence in spontaneous worry-free lovemaking with your wife? It was definitely worth sitting on a bag of frozen peas for a few days.

The pain gets better in a couple days. Swelling is a bit... Interesting.

FWIW, that definitely does not happen for everyone.
