I tried to nap like this again just now but apparently he's still hungry, as he was trying pretty hard to latch on. Back to mom he goes. Poor mom just wants a nap!
Congrats! My parenting advice is to ignore all the parenting advice and do what works for you and your family.

Congrats! Make sure you're looking after momma too. Even a smooth delivery can be really difficult to deal with, and she's been through a lot.
Its really great to see the changes in your life from a year or so ago. The future is bright! Hunker down and get everybody through the next few months and just focus on enjoying the family!
A bit late to the party, but I'll still extend a healthy congratulations!
Today has been really great. The Wife had a bit of a hard night, mostly just hormones and emotions and she was crying because Avi was hungry all the time which made her feel like she wasn't producing enough so we managed to get 150 ounces of breast milk this morning from a nearby lady that donates a ton. And of course today The Wife's boobs kicked in to overdrive so she's producing a ton as well. Everything I've read online says Avi's stomach is the size of a walnut and only holds 1.5 ounces tops. He's downing 3 ounces of milk almost each feeding, every few hours. This little guy drinks like a champ... and poops like one also.
One downside is my cat, Pickles, is having trouble with this. She is mildly obsessed with me and has a little bit of separation anxiety. So of course being gone a week and returning with a baby, she's not happy. Some friends came over today and we all had dinner and Pickles got really upset and peed on the bed, right where I sleep. She then came into the kitchen where we all were and ran away and tried to pee on the door. I stopped her and she ran away screaming like I was killing her and now she's hiding under the bed. She's always been afraid of strangers but I'm going to have to spend extra time with her so this doesn't become a problem. I've had her for 11 years and I absolutely don't want to lose her but I also have to make sure she doesn't pee on the baby or anything
The hormone crash kicked my wife's butt with both kids. She struggled with production too, a good lactation consultant is worth talking to and meeting with if you have any issues. It really messes with women's minds if they feel they aren't keeping up with baby. There is absolutely no shame if you have to resort to supplementing with bottle, we had to for both because they were tankers.
Good luck with kitty, we have 3. 2 boys who are leery, but otherwise ok. And a female who wants to play with the kids and we have to protect from getting hurt. (She's 14) (meaning, she would let the kids hurt her, she won't go away )
We still had Louie when Lil Stampie was born. The day we came home I took Lil Stampie to Louie and let him check out the new smells and stuff. After that Louie was all cool. Now Louie was a dog I can't predict what a cat would do. Well no one can because well cat.
Today we have Avi's first pediatrician appointment. Wednesday I have my consultation for a vasectomy. Today Avi is one week old! Pretty soon he'll be asking me for an allowance.

Major props on the vasectomy call after the difficulties with the delivery. Many dudes would put the responsibility of birth control entirely upon the woman. Props for being an excellent husband in sharing responsibility to protect your wife's health.

Avi is going to be a month old in 4 days. Pretty wild.
He's doing great, huge appetite, pretty consistently staying around 80-90 percentile in size. He's strong and healthy and growing fast! less than a month old and he's wearing 3-6 month size clothing! He's been having some gas pains, which is normal for a newborn. I'm working from home tomorrow so I can watch him and give mama a bit of a break. All in all, he's doing great and we're happy and of course very tired.

Glad things are going well. Just wait until he's 13 and every other sentence is about what car you're going to buy him that he can't freaking drive for 2 more years.
Sorry I've been away for so long. Life has been very busy.
Avi could not be better, and I think I may even be able to use the word "literally" here. He had a check up a week ago at the doctor, when he was just about 10 weeks, and he weighed 15lbs 11oz. He's at 98% percentile for length and weight and 93% for head circumference. He's super happy and healthy and even sleeps kinda well for such a young baby (not all the way through the night yet though). The Wife is doing really well also, although we learned the other day she has diastatis recti, which is where the center of your stomach muscles basically split apart. It happens fairly often in pregnant women. She's doing exercises to slowly pull that back under control. I got employee of the month last month, so that's pretty great too. Also published my first book! It's a fantasy novella, and I'm working on a sci-fi novel right now and expect to publish it in hopefully about two months. Overall life is great, just busy.

Appreciate the check in. I'm admittedly typing this out on my phone while giving my one year old a bottle! He's not consistently sleeping through the night either. If you're getting things done and not just feeling overwhelmed, you are beating the spread!

Being a parent is definitely busy. Congrats on the novella, also interested in where to find it / support it
Diastasis recti can be tough and unpleasant. I'm hoping she sticks with the exercises, as it can be pretty rough if not taken care of.

It's a dark, sword and sorcery-style tale with a decent bit of horror to it. It's short, a novella, but I like to think it's a pretty fun read. 3 5-star reviews so far so I guess I got something right!
