So I showed a fellow car guy at work this picture:
and he is all like
well now he wants to build that car or a reasonable facsimile. Mind you he has a '67 Camaro, a '97 (?) Eclipse and a '97 Camaro Z28 all sitting in his shop right now. He did have a '79 Monte with a 454 and nitrous in there a bit ago but sold it.
Anyway so we get talking and I mention the 3 Cutlasses that I have sitting around. I told him that if he wants to come over and help me with my engine swap and stuff I would gladly give him one of the spares to build his monster...so long as I got to drive it. We decided the original '80 I had would be the best candidate for the off road beast for him since it is already beat up a bit.
He plans on mostly just sourcing parts from the junk yard and using the car to bomb around on the dirt roads up in the hills. Could be a good deal of fun.
Anyway so now we just need to figure out a way to make it work with our schedules since we work basically opposite shifts lol. More than likely will end up with late nights working in the shop.

Actually that is what we were looking at when we found the other picture on a google image search.
Oh there is also a '70 Cutlass on the local Craigslist for sale that would be very nice if I didn't have to many rigs as it was.
I've wanted to do something like that before, but the Cutlass makes me want to look for a Diplomat or Fury from the 80s.

How did this happen?

Ooh Ralph Beckman's Barracuda.

Grizz,
I know where there's a legit police package '88 Gran Fury that you can get for scrap value. I looked at it today. It's in Hatfield, PA. It's not terrible, but it's not pretty either. I only took a pass since I have too many projects waiting for attention now. I'll be glad you pass you the contact info.

The syclone theory holds water because I know that a lot of the s10 stuff is a direct bolt in to a g-body due to the donk crowd. I'd be interested to know mode for sure.
In reply to mndsm:
Bravada AWD system is a poor mans sy/ty setup. Lingenfelter used it on the s15 monster.

Some parts and some mad fabrication skillz.. I believe it was trailblazer transfer case and front suspension..
In reply to Rob_Mopar:
Very tempting, but I already know my grandfather wouldn't tolerate another vehicle that needs a bunch of work here.
I was trying to find a new Charger pic for my wallpaper and ran across this. Apparently the off road thing is going to be used in the next movie. I do like the spare tire mounted in the trunk.
any bets on how little of this one will be left at the end of the movie?
The title of this thread really had me worried...

I've been wondering if an S10 4WD front crossmember and suspension will bolt into a G-body, or at least fit with minimal fabrication. The G-body, S10, and several other relatives like the Bravada are in the same metric chassis family.
