That's the best thing about a colonoscopy to me. Only my twilight doesn't last two days. More like 6 hours.

Yup. I was told no driving for 12 hours. I felt normal in less that 4 but I waited until the next day to be on the safe side.
I'm fortunate to have a health care system that covers the cost of the procedure and a good insurance plan through work that covers my wages while I'm off.

Seriously, can we berkeleying give cancer the banhammer? That sonofabitch is not welcome here.
Glad you caught it early, all your GRM brethren are rootin' for you.
So thankful it was caught early, praying for a good surgery and quick recovery!
My sister just beat colon cancer. I hope the procedure goes well!

Check your insurance. With some carriers, a colonoscopy is part of wellness maintenance (like a check-up) and therefore free. Anesthesia is not necessary wellness and therefore not free. Dental plans are dental plans.
A SCREENING colonoscopy is part of the required zero patient cost health plans under Obama Care. If it is a DIAGNOSTIC colonoscopy, you pay. Anesthesia should be included in the procedure.
Had my surgery yesterday. All went well and I'm short about 18" of intestine now.. The doc is cautiously optimistic that they got it all. I'm recovering and the pain isn't too bad. Morphine is a wonderful drug

If you need any advice regarding recovery, let me know via PMs. Careful with the morphine, it will tend to constipate you. Drink as many fluids as they allow, and get up and moving as much as they'll let you.
Don't do anything crazy for the first 8 weeks post-op or you can run the risk of a hernia.

Glad to hear things went well. Keep us posted on how things are going.
This is good news! Please do keep us updated.

I anxiously await confirmation so that I can proclaim, "rectum, damn near kill'em"
Captain
I wish you well.
One of my co-workers just had his colon removed due to complications of colitis. He said when its all over, he will not had an shiny happy person. I told him his wife could get rid of all those strapons she has.
I disagree about the morphine, unless they just didn't give me enough of it. It locked me up tight. I have no idea how somebody could abuse it.

"Adding Lightness" you weren't using it anyway. Ask the doc to take your appendix while he was there? Twofer. Thanx for the update, keep em coming please

Glad to hear the prognosis sounds good. Rest up!
I had this surgery last May. I suspect my little problem was further along than yours. I have recovered well from the surgery and chemo and am optimistic about my long-term prospects. PM me if you want additional encouragement. There have been a lot of advancements in the treatment of this malady.
Quick update. I've been home for a week and am healing nicely. The thing that's driving me nuts is I finally have both time and money to work on my cars but I'm not allowed to lift, push or pull. This sucks.
In reply to Wayslow:
Home and healing most important.
Money and cars second.
I know when we can't do our passions it is frustrating but you have to be here to pursue your passions.

They didn't give you enough. I had a nice morphine drizzle going once and they may have been the best two days of my life, not that I really remember them.
