Turns out they had the wrong people:

From the article-
"It is important to remember that when people are arrested in an effort to make further inquiries it does not mean that they are guilty of an offense and Sussex Police would not seek to make their identity public," Tingley said.
A number of UK newspapers named the couple.
Which makes the juxtaposition of the previous posts on this page all the more chilling.
He did say “after conviction”, so not so chilling really.
Naming them was a clearly boneheaded maneuver though (sadly not surprising in the current manic media environment) since some people are obviously unclear on the difference between arrest and conviction. I always wonder about such things when they arrest people for things like child molestation and show their name in the news. Wow, imagine if they got the wrong guy!

Now there may not have been a drone at all:
Sussex Police said there had been 67 reports of drone sightings - having earlier cast doubt on "genuine drone activity".
Det Ch Supt Jason Tingley said no footage of a drone had been obtained.
And he said there was "always a possibility" the reported sightings of drones were mistaken.
I use drones for my company to investigate things that would otherwise cost many tens of thousands of dollars to get people up to look at. The drones we use cost between two and five thousand dollars. I recently got my gas drone license. This kind of thing really annoys me as it will inevitably make using these things much harder. They are a great tool that have saved my clients lots of $$$$ and have made me a fair pile of $$$$
