after 45 years in the Pacific Northwest I am done with rain. I seem to have developed seasonal affective disorder and too long of periods with dark, overcast days really takes it out of me, like really drags me down.

Summer = motorcycle.
I'm conflicted.
Same but replace motorcycle with outdoor activities (kayaking etc)
Nothing like a sunny day in Feb. on a frozen lake or a sunny day in September in Keene Valley.
I hate heat an humidity. Manage to survive four years.
So it's a beautiful summer evening in SoNE. I'm sitting on our patio surrounded by our tall flower gardens (our patio is actually an outdoor room), the solar lanterns have popped on, I'm listening to vintage jazz and drinking Bordeaux imported by Monsieur Touton (best value European wine importer, but only available on the East Coast). Shorts, T-shirt, and flip flops weather. It doesn't get any better than this. Annie is in our sun room, which overlooks the patio and it's insect-free. Bugs don't bother me but they bother her. But I can sit in the sun room in other seasons. I want to be outside. Fall, winter, spring you say? No way. Summer is the ticket for me folks.
Summer, because I have poor circulation and my digits are always frozen Nov-April. Also, see the 'frame rust' thread for a big reason I hate living in the northeast.
If you are single don't make the mistake I did and marry someone who thinks summer heat is awful and loves the cold. She won't make a move to a more moderate climate because everything that isn't winter is "hot and humid".
One of my favourite things is sailing, I love nothing more than to take my little 14 footer out to some secluded spot, drop anchor, and spend the night beneath the boom tent. Can't do that in any other season but summer
One of the beautiful things about my region (southwest) is at high elevation the summers are beautiful, and at low elevation, winters are beautiful.
I actually look forward to winter now, because it means more time exploring the desert.
I love summer. I have never enjoyed winter, even as a kid it was something to be slogged through to get back to being happy. I do not understand people who prefer bitter cold and gray sky. I can’t wait to get to a point where I can head south for the winter.
Summer. I’ve always hated winter, even what little we had growing up in Virginia Beach. By 10 I wanted to move to Florida because they don’t have winter. Add in motorcycles and road salt to reinforce my call.
Spring can be nice in the right place, but up around CNY winter drags well into April and as late as the third weekend in May.
Fall is nice. It’s when I show my Basic White Girl and slam PSL’s and start cooking in the crockpot.
I moved south after 29.5 yrs of winter living in Michigan.
I can always cool off way easier than heat up.
Rust sucks.
All the people from Arizona coming up to Saskatchewan in February to get away from the heat suggest that winter is great. Oh, wait...
Florida is great! If you enjoy swamp ass for 9 months out of the year any time you have the audacity to go outside. Being able to ride my motorcycle year round is quite nice but is tempered by Florida drivers and I-4. Watched a BMW driver whip out her phoen when she hit 50mph today, didn't swerve a bit as she was obviously well practiced with distracted driving.
Peronally, I don't mind adding a layer and not dealing with so much burning, glaring sun.
Summer, hands down for me. I don't mind 100 degrees and sweat. I hate being bundled up in coats and gloves and not being able to do anything without being cold. I detest being cold and therefore hate the puffy cumbersome measures it takes to prevent being cold. I either spend the time bundling up legs, torso, hands, head, etc to go get in the car... then I'm sweating my arse off when the heat gets warm... then removing all those clothes when I get to my destination.
Give me summer. Shorts and a t-shirt, lake baths, cold beer and gin-n-tonics, and reggae music.
