Here's the money shot. Not cage related, but did you notice those white tubes in the last pic?
An awful one.
In addition to numerous follies it appears thar worst of all the main hoop only goes to the top crossbar and has an offset of atleast a bar width as it meets that tube... It really looks like the kind of thing you would see in a demo Derby..
Most circle tracks just ensure that you meet the letter of the rules, not the spirit. So the tech guy looks inside, sees some bars in approximately the right place and calls it good. Interestingly enough, injuries are rare.. Maybe - no in fact- most cages are way overbuilt for the speeds attained. Not that I am excusing that one. No sense of pride at all.
Besides that it's utterly craptacular, it looks like a superfund site. It is completely covered in birdsh/t, right?

Hmm. Crumple zone in the driver's area. The curved blue bar closest to the camera looks like one of those things the poseurs build to keep from cutting their dashboard.
I guess the rules for dirt cars are alot more relaxed than pavement. I don't think I've ever run somewhere that would allow that.
Dirt track cars ALWAYS have the E36 M3tiest cages. Second worst seems to be drag racers. I swear it's rednecks that are the common denominator.
looks like the cheapest cage they could put together to fit the rules of the local 1/4 mile dirt oval, and this is probably not the first- or second, or even third- car that particular cage has been in..
