whatever squid...not that easy in the army, I'm in a critical MOS so I have a much narrower selection of jobs that I can switch to. coast guard is CAKE work they don't even do PT, I know if I get out of the army and join the CG they will take me in a heart beat (seeing as I'm familiar with various weapons systems)
Don't even do PT?!?!?! AHAHAHAHAAAAA!!! Yes we most certainly do! And critical has nothing to do with anything in the CG except you get bigger bonuses so retention isn't an issue.
YOU might want to look into switching over When's your enlistment up and what rank are you?
I'm an e4 and I have till 2012, I heard from some guy that all you CG guys were scared of the MA Duece lol. we have thread jacked btw lol. Sorry I can't help talking smack. I don't know how I'd do on a boat seriously that's some rough E36 M3 you guys do.

I did camp, as a boy scout, at the cape may NJ station where they train recruits.. it was cool.
I think you'd be able to get in as a Warrant Officer. Not a bad gig. Seriously, check it out.
Cape May is cool. I graduated from there. Marching on the beach at 2AM in the winter was actually kinda memorable.

thanks.. and good luck to you.
Just found out today it was LIFO that killed me. Last in first out. I had over 3 years with the company but less than a year in the purchasing deparment. Ha.
If the military is something you are not opposed to go talk to a National Guard recruiter. Here in Ohio they are way short on officers right now but also they are offering $20K to inlist, plus you can get some decient health insurance. If you do go that route let us know what they tell you, there are enough of us on here to be able to sort out the BS for you.
Good luck.
signed an offer letter today for the ace in the whole job... They already received and accepted it. So far I have a job in June. I've had the offer letter sitting around since decemeber and have been interviewing since previous june.
I think I'll be in CT in June. Gamby etc.. WATCH OUT!
There is no loyalty anymore.. I didn't believe it 100% but I do now. I'm glad I had a job offer. The company is worth over $60B and wouldn't recind an offer to damage relationships between it and my school.
So things I'm going to do in the mean time
spend time with my pregnant wife
write articles about being punted (sister is a NYC editorial manager she'll pitch to newspapers/sites/stuff)
Paint house and get it sold.
Then finally I'm going to volunteer. I want to help out Habitat for Humanity and help my wifes school ( a non profit) develop a marketing plan.

what tax credit?
Not sure where you are headed in CT, but I will probably be selling my house in Burlington in the near future. Nice 3br colonial on 2 ac with all the amenities. low 300 range. Headed to Vermont myself.

I will dig up the article but it sounds as if there will be an extra deep stimulus credit awarded for verifiable public volunteer service.
It will be tomorrow as I am leaving to take Trev to the doxxors for his checkup soon.

I didn't know that..
My dad was on the board of Habitat in Kansas city Mo when I was a little one. Ever since then I've wanted to help out and give back. It's a stellar charity. If you want a house and don't have the money, you put in sweat equity. If you don't maintain the house or get in trouble with the law or drop out of school... The house gets reposed and given to a deserving person. No free lunch. I like it.
