I mean this
.
The new, all-electric Tesla Model X crossover, which was introduced on stage by Tesla CEO Elon Musk (also the man behind SpaceX), isn’t exactly a step toward the mass market. But it does take on premium utility vehicles with three rows of seating for up to seven, better maneuverability than a Mini Cooper, and a 0-60 mph time of just 4.4 seconds—that’s faster than a Porsche 911, Musk jeered.
But the real oohs and ahs of the evening came when Musk showed the Model X’s much-anticipated ‘falcon doors’—essentially gullwing rear doors, behind normal hinged front doors

First thing I thought of when I read that.

A little weird, yet attractive. However I see crossover vehicles as endurance travel devices and taking hours to recharge negates that purpose.

The back doors seem too gimmicky to me
Aw, I was expecting Nikola!
I think the rear doors are not going to work out well in the real world.
I really like Tesla, and I hope that they, and Fiskar & all the other electric car builders succeed. And sooner rather than later. I think that the electric cars of today can meet a lot of drivers needs.
But since I work on electric machines every day I'm biased
Sorry this is the first thing I thought of.
The rear doors are kind of useless. I can just imagine my kids opening them in a parking lot and shattering the windows in the car next to it.
Since everyone is chiming in with what they thought of...
Goes 0-60 in 4.4 seconds....
At which time it will need to recharged for 12 hours.

This misconception is what's holding modern e-cars back.
Oh come on, it's a joke
No self-respecting motor head can turn a blind eye to the instant torque at no RPMs from an electric motor
How would the doors shatter the windows of the cars next to it? I'd rather be parked next to a car with doors like that which is filled with kids - no door dings!!
I actually kinda like it, especially if it comes with childproof locks.
But it is a bit of a gimmick to make you look. Once you look you may find you like it. And it guarantees it gets plenty of press.

I drove a Tesla roadster a couple years ago. The instant torque at any RPM simply cannot be overlooked. It is completely freaking awesome!
The owner of said Tesla is supposed to be getting one of these cross-overs. Maybe I can pick up his roadster cheap when he does... Thus, I approve of this vehicle, ossifrage doors and all.

You haven't seen the average parking lot around here. Or the average SUV parked in a space designed for a compact.
