I was married to a woman from the Midwest (born Missouri, raised Indiana) for half a minute..IIRC, Yins is a combo of "you ones".
I should have known we were going to have problems when she continued to use yins (she pronounced it more like "yooins"), but still lambasted me for using "y'all".

now that we have gotten off topic.. the offense at our showing pictures is religious. In Islam it is offensive to have ANY graven images.. that includes snapshots. The Afganis are a bit more strict than most Muslims in the US
