So is it ok or not that an American Healtcare worker fly home from Africa?
They may have been just doing lab work.
If the NG troops build a structure, and contact nobody, can they come home, or do they sit in a box?
Which of the healcare workers need to be stuck in a room by themselves for 3 weeks in Texas?
There're more branches than it seems.
The Czar was brought in to manage people/response, so no need to have medical experience.
What we really need right now would be some sort of head of the public health system. We could give him an authoritative name like "Surgeon General" or something...
In reply to alfadriver:
No one comes in.
If you're in direct contact with a victim here in the states you sit in a box.
If you do not come in direct contact with a patient or their bodily fluids you don't.
It's not that hard.
OK, I'm absolutely speechless on this: http://christwire.org/2014/08/obama-is-infecting-christians-with-ebola-to-destroy-jesus-and-start-a-new-age-of-liberal-darkness/
Are there people that actually believe this E36 M3? I mean, like really believe it? Because if so.... we're berkeleyed.
^LOL that HAS to be a parody site. Has to be.
Edit: Confirmed:

Good article here on why a travel ban would be unprecedented and not such a good idea:

ok.... That makes me feel better. But there's enough of this stupid crap out there you never know anymore!
In reply to GameboyRMH:
Most of that makes sense, but it would be fairly easy to make an exception for healthcare workers travelling to and from Africa.
Thank you for that article. I was suspicious that is what they were talking about when the said it might make it worse.
The news I saw seemed to reporting that they did not want the ban, but did not seem to ever say WHY it might be bad. (more sensational to not say why?)
For those who don't want to read it, it basically says if you ban travel it will encourage people to lie about their travel, making them harder to track. It might also make aid worker less likely to travel since they might be afraid of getting back.
I think the key here is HOW it's transmitted. There is no evidence it's anything but bodily fluids, and there never has been (as far as I know). When they say they don't know how it was transmitted to these people, it does NOT imply that it may be from another means (airborne etc), they mean they don't know how the worker managed to get the fluids on them. (I am sure other means are a consideration, but the strong assumption will be by known means)
One thing good that might come out of this: Maybe people will be a bit more careful in the future about spreading other, less deadly, sicknesses. There is clearly a lot of carelessness in that area.
Maybe some Dallas healthcare workers could stay bloody home for a couple of weeks!! I can only imagine that at this point they've been to Disney, Grand Cantral Station, Venice Beach, and Yosemite.
Unless you get a fake passport, I'm pretty sure it's easy to tell where your coming from. I haven't read the article yet.

You don't believe that, right?
How long do you think it takes to get a vaccine to the human trials stage? Certainly not two weeks. I'm guessing a decade or so.

Wow! That website is really wacked. The articles read more like a tabloid.

Sadly, many people DO believe that.

Thank you, Thank you. I'm here all week.
If you can't laugh at the pending doom, gloom and politics what is the point of living?

Hi dculberson,
I hope this doesn’t come across sounding snarky or defensive but I’ve actually worked in the medical device industry for over a decade, teach FDA compliance, and hold multiple professional certifications on the subject so yes, I do understand how long it takes.
It seems to me that you’re helping to make my case…what are the odds of a decade long (you own words) development project somehow miraculously coming to fruition just as the threat spills into the West.
I’m on the device side not the pharma side so I’m not following this specific development closely but I imagine the pharmaceuticals have been on a slow development path for a long time and an emergency waiver has been requested to expedite limited approval for human use in response to the current threat.
I’m not necessarily critical of this, I’m simply making an observation.

Who says they were white?
1 man has died. Mr. Duncan was a Liberian. Pretty good chance he's not white.
I've never heard what skin color the nurses are. Have you?
With all due respect regarding your professional experience, my own observation of your comment was that it was unnecessary, and made a rather useless racial stereotype which had absolutely nothing to do with your professional experience.
In fact, it was rather unprofessional.
Just an observation.
