Another plu-uno to both of you.
Except anti-stance earns a -1 for invoking "Nascar standards" and then calling Tags' pass at RA as "dirty". If all the passes were that "dirty", the body guys up and down pit road would be looking for new work.
How can oval trackers run in the dirt but not in rain...although I watched indycar did it a few years ago at Milwaukee.

look at the differences in how an Indy car is built compared to a NASCAR stock car and how they use those differences to do what they do.. and also look at the size of the crowds (both in attendance and out in tv land) that are looking to be entertained...
The 11 people at an Indycar race didn't mind getting wet.
The Indy race that draws the biggest crowds, the Indy 500 has doesn't run in the rain.
Speeds on an oval are usually much higher than on a road course. Road courses usually have run off room, ovals do not.
Just look at what a car on slicks does when it get loose on dry pavement.

It has been established that you can't run in the rain on ovals, hence why I brought up Milwaukee. Nascar could easily develop a car that could handle the rain/dirt/snow (what ever you can think of) if they desired, and it is not about money because they spends gobs of money on developing a dinosaur of a car. Honestly with how bad the chase is and how the stands in racing period our dwindling even in the all mighty nascar, I wouldn't be sad to see Nascar decline, and another series take the top step, so I don't have to explain to people that racing isn't left turns in a dinosaur car.

Nascar still exists? I thought for sure they would have been as irrelevant as professional wrestling and drifting at this point.

They probably could but it would make a miserable day for the people paying to watch it. That's why I pointed out they don't run the Indy 500 in the rain even though those cars obviously are capable of doing it as you saw at Milwaukee. When most of your money comes from spectators you try to keep them comfortable.

as a long time (since 1987) fan, i wouldn't want to watch a NASCAR oval race in the rain from the comfort of my dry living room. it just wouldn't be a good show. and i definitely wouldn't want to sit out in the rain and watch it in person.
road courses, however, are a totally different thing. i loved watching the few Nationwide races that got ran in the rain on tv, and the Cup guys would be just as good.. but i still wouldn't want to be at the track watching it in person.

Right. I'm sure you would have the same feeling if Chase Elliot(or any other NASCAR regular) was on the inside and it was Mike Skeen or Boris Said that got pushed off on the track out. I'm sure you wouldn't say "damn NASCAR drivers can't drive for crap". Elliot gave him a ton of room. Tags was on slicks, he knew it was still damp in Canada Corner and didn't give a E36 M3, went in too hot, and pushed right into Chase even with a parkinglot worth of track he was given. Come on man, you are killing me here.
Dirty might have been too strong of a word, more like careless.

thank you, sir... people seem to forget that once you get past the most basic entry level classes in any form of racing, it is a business first and racing second.
and that is I am so dissatisfied with nearly every "top-tier" racing series. Truly disappointing and depressing.
That daytona race this past wknd was a mess.

And you would be dead wrong. I would compliment any driver who accomplished that pass and also give credit to the passee for recognizing what was happening and making room for it.
Your distress is self-inflicted and seems oddly singular. Read the comments on the official Nascar YouTube clip and see how many people share your point of view. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUjkLJx_nYc
You're making more stink about it than the entire race announce crew and they're the first to point out dirty/careless driving tactics.
I find it funny that often many of the people that "hate" what Tagliani did say they were big Earnhardt fans. I was a huge fan because he made a career of exciting aggressive passing but anyone that drives like that now is a menace. A few years ago I went to see Richard Childress speak at a fundraiser. In line to get in people were complaining about Kyle Busch's latest antics which were fairly mild by Dale Srs standards.

Sr never wiped out a championship contender in a series that he wasn't even eligible to earn championship points in during a yellow flag like Kyle did to Ron Hornaday a couple of years ago..

Sr also never whined about how unfair it was when someone got him back for something he did a few races before..

Whoa, I am certainly not in that group. Quite the opposite. I have no problem with the Busch Brothers and think the whole Jr/Sr fans are the cookie cutter fans of the sport that make it look bad.
Oldsaw, I'm sorry but I'm just going to have to disagree. As I stated before, Tags drove an awesome last couple of laps, never seen that before. That's what people are talking about in the youtube comments. I just don't think when you have that kind of room it's necessary to bounce the outside car over the gators to take a spot. The last turn Tags did it correct with less room.
Note: My disagreement does not mean I'm right, just stubborn.
