Wow. That came out of nowhere!
I was never a particular fan of his, but I recognize his influence. RIP.
In reply to Tom_Spangler:
Wasn't big on his studio works, but live he was amazing. His influence on other musicians and direct tutelage went far beyond those of his genre or sound as well.

My personal favorite performance. Probably Dhani's too.

Just saw him in concert last year. RIP Prince
Great artist but a strange duck. Had him in a nightclub I worked at and his herd of bodyguards were a wild bunch. He was desperately concerned with being poisoned and had a specific body guard who tasted all of his drinks and food first...
Prince was one of the best musicians to ever grace this existence. The dude was an incredible guitar player, and whether you liked his stuff or not, he was unbelievably influential. Can't believe he's gone.
In the past 24 hrs, Former wrestler Chyna died, and now Prince. Not to mention Bowie, Glen Frye, etc... 2016 is a jerk.
Appleseed wrote: Most people have no idea the songs, amazing songs, he wrote for others.
And no matter what you think of him, that little man could play the guitar, too.
That was right out of nowhere. He was feeling ill last week but had just done a show in Atlanta.
Why, WHY COULDN'T IT HAVE BEEN JUSTIN BIEBER?!?!?!?!?
berkeley. Dude was amazing. I still love the Purple Rain album. It may be cheesy but I still love it.
He was the opposite of people like M. Jackson. Every one thought he was a sick berkeley in the 80s but time has shown he was a genuinely a good guy.
I believe he was "The Artist formerly known as The Artist formerly known as Prince."
They play his stuff on the 70-80's pop station. I don't hear a lot of guitar work in his stuff. I hear like 2 notes and singing. I don't hear The Battle of Evermore.
Just heard it on NPR headed back from lunch. They were interviewing a guy about it and playing snippets of his songs. I must have passed through an onion fog, because I found myself tearing up a bit.
It was a huge influence on my generation and will be missed.

The thing about Prince is that you never heard his best songs on the radio. Don't know if this was intentional or not. Had some freakish guitar work on songs like "Free" on the 1999 album or "Bambi" from the "Prince" album. Seriously, dude had Hendrix-level talent and could play ANYTHING..
