The only roads that have mile markers in my state are major interstates. Like I-95. Not exactly conducive to stopping for photos. In fact I'm pretty sure you are only allowed to stop for emergencies.

Might be the same in some other states too.

I liked this thread, and I'm going to try to bring it back with a very easy resurrection challenge:

A picture of your car on jackstands or ramps.

Jack stands were on page 4.

I had a chance for this one last week, though. I had to go out of state for it.
