<img src="" /> Catching mullet for bait at the mouth of the south pass of the Mississipi River
After I bought the my first cast net, I wondered why I hadn't done it 25 years ago (much like my kayak).
If you guys didn't pepper that line of grass with Gulp shrimp and topwater lures, you were doing it wrong, unless your excuse was that you wanted to head offshore faster.

That was our mission on sunday, June 30. We went out on Barataria Bay for Redfish. Four of us went out of Joe's Landing on a 22' boat. The first fish was a 25" redfish caught by a friend's 8 year old son. We caught many reds just under the limit and a few keepers. We also got Black Drum, Sheepshead and a Flounder. Unfortunately I had broken my camera by that part of the trip.

The water in the Shiawassee River, southeastern Michigan, is nearly that high. Hopefully it is fishable by sunday.
...that said, had a nice little 10 minute shower to cool us down. One of the only things I miss about Florida (the other 2 being fishing and 3-4 months of bikinis) is watching a summer shower roll over the water with a fishing rod in one hand and a beer in the other. Wish fulfillment:
Beginner fly fisherman here. Had some fun times in NoVA rivers with some bluegill. Trip to NZ brought my gear for an in-laws visit (read: sit on their couch, cause we are there to visit family) within walking distance of a trout stream. It's mid-winter here, so note that I'm not going for the capri look with the rolled up jeans.

Yes, the water was colder than a well digger's ass. I was in it mid-calf for 1.5. Totally worth it!
When I get home from work I'll upload some pictures to flikr of our trip earlier this month. Couple good smallies out of it

You're doing it right. That is a nice trout, too.
I would be ripping spinners in that water, myself.
It rained like the dickens while I was at the beach. I had a few hook ups, but I never got a fish into the boat. It was sad.
Back from the dead.
I took the kids out today. Instead of using worms at the little lake in the park and catching billions of panfish, we went to a local creek and used some minnows.
I advised the kids that the fishing was going to be slower and that they had to pay attention.
As you may have already guessed, they did not pay attention. Luckily, I was, so when my son's pole jumped off of the stick he had it on and went in the water, I was there to jump in and grab it. He quickly became interested again and started fighting the fish. We quickly realized that the drag on his little 202 was not set to handle anything larger than sunfish, so we made an in flight adjustment and he managed to land his largest fish so far.
The face says it all- he was one happy kid.
