We made the decision this weekend to make our home available to COVID 19 responders through AirBnB.
We will step up our cleaning and disinfecting, and offer the space at a deep discount (or free)
It feels good.
Both me and my wife are "essential" so we don't have to worry about burning through our emergency fund and can continue to pay off our debt as planned, and possibly sooner due to the gov't deciding to give us some of our money back. I'll be able to jump start a couple of endeavors that will hopefully make extra $$ with that money. I'll also more than likely be super busy after this blows over and get OT.

Yesterday was beautiful around here and I got a bunch of little things buttoned up on the race car. The grocery store had most of what we needed so we can eat for another couple of weeks. Have a quiet day planned today hanging around with SWMBO. Stay safe and be kind to each other.

I am actually using all of that comp time off that I never get a chance to use! I am finally going to learn to use the welder that I got for Christmas.
The weather is awesome and we were outside all day yesterday. Good times!
It is beautiful day to take out the bike. And I learned how to load a picture to the board!
Just about time for the spring changeover.
snow blower put away .
Lawn mower out and prepped.
Winter tires off and summers on.

Local animal shelters are hurting right now because volunteers are staying home and donations are getting slim.
We stopped in and picked up this little girl today. She's 2 and her name is Pip:
I finally had time to break in my Christmas present...a Rupes Bigfoot. 3 step paint correction on two cars so far!

Very fortunate to be still working and getting paid. 34 years in commercial HVAC, the last 25 in sales and project management. We’re primarily a service company and considered essential so we’re still able to keep most of the crew working at least for now.
The week before last, I got a call from one of our clients asking if we could re-open a hospital property they own that had been closed for several years. It was extremely gratifying to be able to direct a crew of between 7 and 10 of our techs through the process of restarting and doing the work needed to make the building HVAC systems functional again. In a little more than a week they were able to get the systems to a point of 98 to 99% functionality. I’ve been with this company for over 16 years, some of these techs were just kids when I started. “Sales Dad” is very proud of the troops.... At the same time I pray that these beds will not be needed but fear they will.
My brother called, his project house passed its plumbing inspection.
The new catalytic convertor I put on my car fixed the check engine light.
I welded it on without burning through the pipes.
My company has 49 different projects running right now.
We have had no major sicknesses for any of our staff, their families, or our subs.
We have had no layoffs.
And we've landed a couple new jobs during this downturn.

Swmbo had a conference call today. It was not a mass call like most of them. Only a select few. I knew right away what was happening.
She is 1 of 90 across all of Disney resorts not being furloughed. That just solved SO many of my problems.
Decided to take my 17 year old son out in the REPU to the local high school to teach him the ways of the stick shift yesterday. He's still learning to drive, so he's not ready for the road yet in a manual vehicle. It went better than I thought. A bunch of stalls and a bit jerky, but he got it rolling.

When I was teaching my girlfriend-now-wife how to drive a manual in the way back time, her first attempt at getting going in the RX-7 was to redline it and dump the clutch. Her first ever burnout and stall was hilarious.
If all goes according to plan I'm going to come out of this time at home with 3 additional vehicles to work into my rotation, with two more knocking on the door. I also ordered tires, chain, and ridiculous sprockets for my sport bike that I haven't ridden in almost 10 years to make it a wheelie machine just because.
My boy. I can't wait to meet him.

No chirping of tires, but plenty of stalls. Doesn't help that the REPU idles low, and he didn't really get the rev it a little while slowly letting the clutch pedal up concept. He got it eventually, but he's not ready for the road yet. Took the Sienna out for a long driving lesson drive after this first attempt in a manual. Also spent an hour or so showing him how to change a flat tire on his car(once he gets his license). Part of it was a life lesson, and the other part was so that I knew he had all the stuff to do a swap. Everything was present, but the donut only had 20 psi in it, so we rectified this. Also the rear wheels were severely over torqued. Even my 300 lbs ass wasn't enough to break them loose. Air tools came out. Then the wheel was stuck to the hub. Valuable lesson of leaving lugs loose, and letting the jack down fixed that. We then cleaned up the corrosion on the back of the wheels, and front of the drums, and properly torqued the lugnuts. One lugnut was pretty well stripped, so I sourced a new one at the local FLAPS. Productive day, lessons learned, time spent with a teenager is always good. Now if we could get the 13 year old out of his room that'd be great!!
