Listen, I'm under no delusions that I'm not poor. I was born poor and always will be. Why? Because I don't care about money, I don't chase it, I don't have a drive to aquire it. My satisfaction in life comes from doing a good job, making people happy and taking pride in what I do. Everybody in the family is taken care of. We are all fed, we all have new clothes. All the bills are paid on time and we are living a very comfortable life.
I'd like to see anyone try to convince her to sell her reliable, efficient three year old car that still has 50k miles and seven years left on the warranty for an older beater, ha, never going to happen.
Also this is the first job I've had in at least eight years that I've had to work less than 70hours per week. I feel normal again. I feel like a real person, a husband and a father. Not someone who just visits for a while at night and is never seen until the next night. No sir, I'm more than happy with my 42 hours a week. I have no need for a second job.
The only debt we have is a small hospital bill, my bike and her car. Wether the bike sells or not we'll be fine. We certainly are not in a drastically desperate situation like many of you think. It may be uncomfortable for some of you but it's just life for us.
And no matter what no FWD, fords or anything Japanese will darken my doorstep. A man has to have standards

By ruling out FWD you are pretty much ruling out hatchbacks, at least newer ones.

You can't admit that you're poor and then dismiss the obvious choice from an economic point of view (an older Japanese FWD econobox). You're still kidding yourself. Stop trying to maximize your buying dollar by buying more car than you can really afford. Yeah, a full size Chevy truck may make you happier, but trucks are way more expensive to purchase and to feed.
oh, and even I don't have new clothes. The shirt I am wearing right now is from the Miracle Hill store.

Here is a legitmate question: Lets say that you have a car (any car) and a cheap 250 bike. Which one are you on more, including kid duties?

It certainly was, it was what was required of me by my employers. What they paid me didn't matter as long as the bills got paid.

You are giving yourself too much credit. With zero spare income and upside down on 1 (or more) loans, you are only a small hiccup away from a 'quick and dramatic' change to serious financial problems.
