TIL that my ADD is too severe to learn what pilotbraden posted.
Preach that!!! Sorry Charlie Browns Teacher.....I mean pilotbraden.
In reply to pilotbraden :
I learned the watch thing when I as in the boy scouts or was it basic training ? Any way I learned it somewhere and often use it.
TIL that one of the fuel level senders in teh R is stuck high.
Apparently 3/8 tank means "sucking wind" now.
TIL that there’s a song called Jesus Drives An Astro Van by a band called Mount Joy, originally from the Philly area.
TIL to toast the bread before making a grilled cheese sandwich. And I confirmed something I already knew, that salami and pepper jack makes a dang good grilled cheese!

Now try using mayonnaise instead of butter. Yes, really.
TIL that I didn't give enough credit to the previous owner of our house. TIalsoL that I give myself too much credit.
Now in my own defense, the PO walked us through the house only one time and there was a lot of 'this outlet doesn't work' and 'when the ceiling fan doesn't work, jiggle this outlet over here' going on in our house. Don't forget about the time when I couldn't figure out what a light switch in the garage did and I couldn't find the switch for the outside lights next to the garage doors, only to find out they were related and ALL the lightbulbs were burnt out!
So what spurred this TIL... I thought the can light above the kitchen sink was toast. It was dead when we moved it, I changed all the kitchen can lights to LED bulbs but the one above the sink still didn't work. This was the beginning of March of last year. Last night, I got the proximity voltage tester pen-thingy out and was tapping at stuff. Yep, it peeped and lit up at the switch, so then I did a sanity check at the can light next to it. Yup it was on, too. Then unscrewed the light bulb and stuck the tester in.
berkeley.
I'm a moron.
Screwed the light bulb ALL THE WAY IN and it was shining into my dim-witted face!
How many mechanical engineers does it take to screw in a light bulb? Only one but it takes him all year.

Grandma's garage must have been water tight. There is one left around here, too.
If you don't seat the fuel pressure regulator down correctly an LS engine will still run while spraying gas all over the engine.
Ford makes a four cylinder 1.5l version of the "small block" Ecoboost.
They put this tiny engine in the Fusion.
It does not have an intercooler, it just has a heat exchanger in the intake manifold that uses engine coolant. I shudder to think how much boost the turbo is making for 200+ degree coolant to be an effective cooling medium. Unless Ford's angle is less charge cooling and more charge temp consistency, since under most conditions that thing will be a charge heater.
Hmm.
TIL. That removing a trailer hitch that has been in the receiver for ten years is a real PITA.
And I also learned you can set your spare tire on fire while doing it.

My thought would be to tie a rope to a tree and drive away! Rust is really good at keeping that thing in there!
Today I learned it costs almost 4 times more to have a grave moved than the funeral cost. So much for that idea.
TIL that there are people on the internet with strong, conflicting opinions about whether dielectric grease should be applied to the contacts within connectors, or just the connector/boot itself.
Or maybe more correctly, that is one of the many subjects people on the internet hold strong, conflicting opinions about.
TIL that the GRM spirit runs deep. I was researching transaxles and adapters... for fun ... and found this thread:
http://www.gt40s.com/forum/gt40-tech-powertrain-transaxles/37299-audi-012-vs-01e.html
A bit dated, but, I started reading... the OP is a 'Bill' from the US and lives in Hungary... Sounds kind of familiar.
In the same vein I found a thread that I started about transaxles last October.

Yea. Believe me I thought about that. Even offered and got shot down. Even offered to use shovels instead of a backhoe, but cemeteries are picky about who digs where for some reason.
Tomorrow is/was my dad's birthday, but I can't go to the cemetery because he's buried at the foot of my grandfather, and I'm still more than a little bitter and angry about that whole situation, and most likely will be for a long time to come.
