Nicholas Cage is getting to be a little washed up. He might not be a bad choice. Of course I just tried to pair him with Jason Priestly (who I like as a good choice) and the gears in my brain just ground to a halt. I keep thinking of those two idiots from click an clack too. Of course they already have a bad show.
Given the shlock that writers are cranking out for television these days, I'd settle for a show that's 1/10th as entertaining as Top Gear.
At this point I don't think I'd have a T.V. in my house if the wife didn't watch it. Ok, maybe for movies but that's it.

I'm very sorry to hear this news. If some US network discovers how to make a cheap copy of TG, it might become much more difficult to find the real thing online.

TG Australia is a joke...
TG Australia is literally painful to watch. It's cringe-inducingly awful.
If whoever is behind TG America doesn't learn from that mistake; they're idiots. A set-for-set, host personality-matching imitation is doomed to fail.
John Force for the fearless leader, Ezra Dyer as the Hammond character, and myself as the loveable eccentric with the house full of toys.

I vote Seinfeld, Carolla, Leno. that's a pretty decent car knowledge and "cool guy" trifecta without driving too many people away because they are unknowns... :P
I vote Click and Clack. Or Red Green. What happened to the Red Green show?
Red Green:
Wiki says they stopped making new ones in 2006 but youtube keeps them allive.

If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
And to the rest of you, thanks for watching. On behalf of myself and Harold and the whole gang up here at Possum Lodge... keep your stick on the ice.
Jerry Seinfeld - a leader, Porsche nut, and quick witted.
Jesse James - Actually very funny, might not have the best screen presence but is not afraid of doing the big challenges. Good when it comes to practical jokes.
Patrick Dempsey - yeah he is on greys and it a shaky show... but he OWNS a rolex car and he DRIVES it when he can. I don;t think he can be a top dog like JC but I think he brings some thing worthwhile... I could also live without jesse james...
Seinfeld = May
Dempsy = Richard Hammond
???? = Clarkson - this is really where the problem lies... not many people can match JC...

So maybe don't try to match him. Try for something completely different.
Hmmmm i wonder how Chip Foose might do on TV....
The problem is that you don't need/want three comedians, or three people who are out and out car people. You need people who have good comedic timing (not scripted jokes) and have a vague interest in things mechanical. Foose is too much a car guy, just as Seinfeld is too much a comedian.
One salty old terd (Hess), one pretty boy (Wally) and a conservative loon (Mofeaux)... no comedians.

I agree to an extent, yes jerry is 99% comedian, and Foose ia 99.9% car guy, but as stated, do you REALLY think you're gonna be bale to get that perfect chemisrty like the UK TG?!?! Nope, so why not go for more extremes and see how it fares, while that combo may not be just like UKTG you cannot argue it would be obviously BAD tv to watch...

Isn't he already on TV? I know it's not in a host-capacity, but he doesn't seem to have a whole lot of on-air personality. Don't get me wrong. The guy is great at what he does, but it's not hosting TV.
I would love to see Peter Egan and Ezra Dyer host a show.

A US top gear would only succeed if I host it. No one else is fulla BS enough. My sole qualification would be um this post....
I just TiVo it on BBC America from the Di-rect Tee Vee. Am I the only one who gets it?
