I just hope things remain calm here and don't erupt like they have in Charlotte.
Especially considering Tulsa's history with the Race Riots that destroyed the most prosperous black community in the country in 1921.

I'm staying out of it. Thoughe I am generally curious why Charlotte is rioting when it happened in Tulsa.
There was another shooting in Charlotte. That's why they are rioting. Details are fuzzy, PoPo won't release the video.

There was a cop shooting in Charlotte too. A black cop shot a black man who reportedly had a gun and was not cooperating.
Lot of misinformation on both these cases floating around out there. The Charlotte incident appears to be a valid shoot. Man climbing out of a car with a gun in hand, not responding to police telling him to put it down. It was initially reported as an unarmed man with a book.
Tulsa appears to have been a repeat offender high on most likely PCP not responding to officers after he parked his car in the middle of the street. This one is hazy as but his hands were not up at the time of the shooting/tazing. They were up previous to that until he got to the driver's door. To me looks like a scared and jumpy officer frightened by man twice her size that appeared high. Waiting on toxicology reports to be released but I believe there was PCP found in the vehicle. This one was reported as "unarmed pastor with his hands up shot by white cop".
Frankly, the "reporting" is atrocious and IMO the news outlets that have misreported should be fined for inciting a riot and forced to pay the damages.
He wasn't a pastor.
The police are the source of a lot of misinformation as well.
One of the guys we work with is a reserve officer, so we get a bit more info. Needless to say, I'm not saying anything until the trial is over.
I just hope everyone remains calm.

What you've posted is exactly why I don't follow this stuff. All I kmow is "cop shoots guy. Guy dead". Everyone wants to riot, then they find out the dead guy was in fact "doin too much" as it was once put to me.

That is kind of the whole point of the news anymore. Since the laws keeping things fair and balanced, aka closer to truthful, got demolished even before I was born, the news networks job is to spread disinformation and fear.
I quit all American news sources except democracy now about 5 years ago because I tend to get more facts from other countries than any of the talking heads or private news sources here. What surprised me the most is the sheer volume of stuff, political, military, otherwise, that is straight up ignored and never mentioned on American news sources. or lately, with a big thanks to the internet archive, finding stories to be downright false and changed after the fact, or completely removed like they never even happened.

i hear it in Will Smith's voice from MIB. But I knew it had to be from before...
That same media has a tendency to report rioting as "protesting." It's not a fine line, there's a chasm between protesting and rioting. I'm not sure how one keeps getting presented as the other? Wait yeah I do, third word of my first sentence.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
my biggest complaint with the police.. they too often go for the kill shot. As shown with the NYC bomber earlier this week, they are perfectly capable of wounding a suspect so they can bring them in.
"I try to just shoot 'em in the leg or something" /Sgt. Murtaugh strategy unfortunately doesn't work in real life. If you have a reason to shoot at all, you go for the kill shot.

Basic gun 101.....don't point at what you don't intend on killing.
basic Gun 101.. I would hope that the police are beyond 101 and have attended at least a 400 level course.
Uhm... yes... shoot them in the leg. This is the result of at least 3 (?) cops shooting at a motionless car from pretty close range (not sure). The result, TWO minor hits on the two occupants, didn't even kill them! Note all the holes in the freakin' tailgate!
Cops in general (much like street thugs) really suck at hitting things with bullets.
Also, my general rule: If someone is pointing a gun at you (be it Cop or Thug), DO WHAT THE F THEY SAY TO DO!
Always aim for center mass, always shoot to kill. I know Clint Eastwood could just shoot the gun out of their hand, but 99.9% of cops can't.
That being said, that's why they have "less than lethal" options. Pepper Spray and Stun Guns.
Seems like the non-scared cop used his taser and she panicked and fired the bang bang gun. Since the Police Dept is filing charges against her I'm going to assume that they know more than all of us.
A woman I work with was pulled over this week. The cop told her to wait in the car and he proceeded to go back to run her info. So what did she do, she got out and started running back towards the police car with her cell phone waving a few minutes into this, only for the cop to pull a gun on her and throw her to the ground. She's all pissed off, but had she waited in the car like she was told, he was going to let her off with a warning. Oh yeah, this a was a running a stop sign issue.
Some people are just not bright. If people would simply do what they tell you to do and sort it out at the station, everyone would be better off.
I have a friend that is a retired cop and retired military, and he has numerous stories like this. There are problem cops for sure, but there are problems with the people getting into this as well. Where are the stories talking about that?
To comment on the above post for news, I rarely ever get my news from US sources anymore. It's a shame you can get more accurate news accounts from overseas. All we have here for the most part are propaganda arms of the political parties. News has gotten way to political.
